Raipur. The Governor of Chhattisgarh has removed the Vice Chancellor of the state’s Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University with immediate effect. An order in this regard has been issued from Raj Bhavan today itself. Under Section 17 of the Horticulture and Forestry University Act, 2019, the Governor has ordered the removal of Dr. Ram Shankar Kuril from the post of Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University, Patan, Durg with immediate effect.
According to the order, under Section 14(7) of Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University Act, 2019, Dr. Alang Divisional Commissioner, Raipur Division, Raipur has been given the responsibility as the Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University, Patan, Durg with immediate effect till further orders. Has been nominated for discharge. In compliance with the order, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Alang has also taken charge of the post of Vice Chancellor today itself.

There was irregularity in the recruitment process of assistant professor
There have been huge irregularities in the recruitment process for 36 posts of Assistant Professor by Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University. A huge discrepancy has come to light in the score card prepared for the posts of Assistant Professor. According to the guidelines of the University Grants Commission, separate marks were to be given for PhD and NET examination, which was not done. Due to this, despite a large number of PhD candidates being available, non-PhD candidates were selected and appointed. A faulty process was also adopted in the formation of the selection committee for assistant professors.
Interview marks were given by the Registrar in the selection committee of the university, but the Registrar was stopped from giving marks in the selection of some candidates. Besides, the constitution of the Board of Management that approves the appointments of assistant professors was also flawed. The nominated persons and experts were not in accordance with the University Act. Due to this, eligible and PhD degree candidates of Chhattisgarh state were given less marks in the interview and candidates from other states were appointed.
