Urban body elections: 109 candidates filed nomination for mayor and 816 for president post, know how many candidates filed nomination for councilor post

Raipur . Under the Urban Body Elections 2025, a total of 109 candidates have filed nominations for the post of mayor of 10 municipal corporations of Chhattisgarh. At the same time, a total of 816 candidates have filed nominations for the post of president of Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats and a total of 10,776 candidates have filed nominations for the post of councilor of urban bodies by the due date of 28 Janu

Under the Municipal General Election 2025, elections are to be held for 10 Municipal Corporations, 49 Municipal Councils and 114 Nagar Panchayats of the state. The dates of the election were announced by the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission on January 20. The nomination process started with the publication of the election notification on January 22 and the last date for receiving nomination papers was fixed as Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Nominations can be withdrawn from the candidates till January 31. The date of January 31, 2025 has also been fixed for preparing and publishing the list of candidates contesting the election and allotment of election symbols. Voting will be held on February 11 and counting and declaration of election results will be held on February 15.

The 10 municipal corporations in Chhattisgarh state where elections are to be held include municipal corporations of Jagdalpur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Ambikapur and Chirmiri.

Similarly, elections for chairpersons and councillors are to be held in 49 municipal councils, which include Bijapur, Kirandul, Badi-Bacheli, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur, Kawardha, Pandaria, Kumhari Ahiwara, Amleswar, Dallirajhara, Balod, Bemetara, Dongargarh, Mahasamund, Bagbahara, Saraipali, Tilda-Nevara, Gobranwapara, Arang, Abhanpur, Mandir Hasaud, Gariaband, Balodabazar, Bhatapara, Simga, Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Bodri, Gaurela, Pendra, Mungeli, Lormi, Kharsia, Janjgir-Naila, Champa, Akaltara, Sakti, Deepika, Katghora, Banki-Mongra, Balrampur, Ramanujganj, Surajpur, Manendragarh and Jashpurnagar.

Similarly, the 114 municipal councils where elections are to be held include Geedam, Barsoor, Dornapal, Bastar, Farsgaon, Keshkal, Bhanupratappur, Charaama, Pakhanjor, Antagarh, Bodla, Pandatarai, Sahaspur-Lohara, Pipariya, Indori, Dhamdha, Patan, Utai, Dundi, Dundilohara, Chikhlakasa, Gurur, Arjunda, Gunderdehi, Navagarh, Saja, Berla, Thankhamharia. The districts where election will be held are: Devkar, Parpodi, Daadi, Bhimbhori, Kusmi, Dongargaon, Chhuriya, Lal Bahadur Nagar, Gandai, Chhuikhadan, Ambagarh Chowki, Kurud, Magarlod, Nagari, Bhakhara, Amdi, Pithora, Basna, Tumgaon, Kharora, Mana Camp, Kura, Chandrakhuri, Samoda, Rajim, Chhura, Figneshwar, Kopra, Devbhog, Kasdol, Palari, Lavan, Tunda, Rohansi, Kota, Bilha, Malhar, Marwahi, Patharia. The constituencies where election will be held are Sargaon, Berla, Jarhagaon, Dharamjaigarh, Gharghoda, Lalungha, Kirodimalnagar, Pusaur, Baloda, Kharoud, Shivrinarayan, Saragaon, Navagarh, Rahoud, Pamgarh, Nariyara, Dabhra, Jaijaipur, Nayabaradwar, Adbhar, Chandrapur, Pali, Chhurikala, Sitapur, Lakhanpur, Kusmi, Rajpur, Wadrafnagar, Vishrampur, Pratappur, Jarhi, Bhatgaon, Patna, Jhagrakhand, Khongapani, New Ledari, Janakpur, Pathalgaon, Kotba, Bagicha and Kunkuri.

Similarly, by-elections will be conducted in ward number 24 and ward number 35 of Municipal Corporation Bhilai in District Durg, ward number 32 of Municipal Corporation Bhilai-Charoda and ward number 34 of Municipal Corporation Risali and ward number 13 of Municipal Council Konta in Bastar Division, District Sukma.

There are a total of 192 urban bodies in the state of Chhattisgarh, out of which elections are to be held in 19 urban bodies in the year 2026, which includes 04 Municipal Corporations – Municipal Corporation Birgaon, Municipal Corporation Bhilai, Municipal Corporation Bhilai-Charoda and Municipal Corporation Risali. Similarly, 05 Municipal Councils, which include Municipal Council Sarangarh, Municipal Council Baikunthpur, Municipal Council Shivpurcharcha, Municipal Council Jamul and Municipal Council Khairagarh. Similarly, 10 Nagar Panchayats, which include Nagar Panchayat Bamhinidih, Nagar Panchayat Premnagar, Nagar Panchayat Shivanandanpur, Nagar Panchayat Palari, Nagar Panchayat Maro, Nagar Panchayat Ghumka, Nagar Panchayat Konta, Nagar Panchayat Narharpur, Nagar Panchayat Bhairamgarh and Nagar Panchayat Bhopalpattanam, where elections will be held in 2026.
