Traffic rules told to the students of Disha College to avoid road accidents…

Raipur, 06 May 2023: In view of the frequent deaths in road accidents in the city, a traffic awareness program was organized at Disha College Ramnagar Raipur in the program by Mr. Sanjay Sharma, President Inter-Departmental Lead Agency Road Safety Chhattisgarh and AIG Traffic in India every year. Presenting the data of road accidents, it was said that every year about 5 lakh road accidents are registered in India, out of which 1.5 lakh people die and 3.5 lakh people are injured. Similarly, 13,279 road accident cases were registered in Chhattisgarh in the year 2022, in which 5834 people died and 11,695 were injured. It is clear from this that many people are affected in road accidents and there is loss of life. To prevent this, it is very important to follow the traffic rules. In the said road accidents, most of the deaths were recorded of two wheeler drivers, which is about 70 percent. Most of the deaths occurred due to not wearing helmets. Wearing a helmet while driving a two wheeler and seat belt while driving a four wheeler can reduce road accident death by 45 percent. Similarly, a large number of deaths have taken place simultaneously while traveling in a cargo carrier to and from an event. Through this programme, everyone was appealed not to travel in goods carriers.

In the program, Traffic Police Raipur’s traffic instructor Mr. TK Bhoi and Constable Sahdev Verma informed about the rules of the road like road marking, road signs, electronic signals, traffic police signal, driver signal etc. through power point presentation. Information about the Good Samaritan scheme issued by the Government of India to provide medical facilities to the persons injured in road accidents in the first hour and appealed for all possible help to the injured persons. Principal of Disha College was honored with a memento and citation by Mr. Sanjay Sharma, President, Inter-Departmental Lead Agency, Road Safety, Chhattisgarh, for participating in the traffic awareness campaign. Principal, teachers and students of Disha College were present in the programme.
