Three-tier Panchayat elections: Congress called BJP’s claim of victory false, said- elections were conducted through ballot, hence BJP lagged behind, released new data
, Raipur. The results of the first phase of the three-tier panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh have come out and the Congress has called it a big victory. State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla claimed that Congress-supported candidates have defeated the BJP and won more seats. Talking to journalists, he said that in the first phase of 149 areas in the district panchayats of the entire state, 78 Congress-supported candidates have won the elections. 69 are Congress’s official candidates and 9 are Congress-supported, while only 66 BJP members have won the elections.
State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla said that BJP is falsely claiming that more of its members have won the Panchayat elections, whereas the reality is that Congress has an edge over BJP in the Panchayat elections. In the first phase, Congress has 12 more members winning the elections than BJP.
State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla said that more Congress-supported people have won the elections among Panchs, Sarpanchs and Janpads. In the first phase across the state, more than 2100 out of 3605 Sarpanchs have won the elections supported by Congress. In Janpad Panchayats also, more than 600 out of 911 Janpad members have won the elections on Congress ticket.
State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla said that the Panchayat elections were not conducted using EVMs but using ballot papers. Hence, BJP could not cheat here. It had to face defeat. Whatever election is conducted using ballots in the country, BJP is sure to lose.
