Raipur 21 December 2021. Meetings of all the three committees constituted by the Chhattisgarh government regarding prohibition of liquor in the state are being held. So far, a total of five meetings have been held, in which brainstorming is being done on the issue of prohibition in the state. It is worth noting that so far 50 liquor shops have been closed in the state by the Chhattisgarh government.
It is worth mentioning here that in order to make suggestions regarding prohibition of alcohol in the state and to assess its effect, a total of three committees consisting of representatives of political, administrative and social organizations have been formed by the Chhattisgarh government, which from time to time study, brainstorm on this issue. And getting suggestions from people at the social level. The committee of representatives of political parties constituted for prohibition of liquor, two meetings of committee constituted at administrative level and one meeting of committee of representatives of social organizations have been held so far. According to the information received from the Excise Department, at present 662 liquor shops are operating in the state, which includes 211 of country liquor, 126 of composite, 304 of foreign liquor and 21 of premium foreign liquor.
In the year 2019-20, 50 liquor shops have been closed by the Chhattisgarh government. For the year 2021-22, under the Excise Policy of retail shops of country and foreign liquor, 662 liquor shops are being operated in 2021-22 as per the instructions issued on administration and other points and premium foreign liquor shops are operated in big districts as per requirement. Permission to do so has been given by the State Government.
