Durg. The incident of massive arson that took place two days ago in Hatri Bazar located at Gandhi Chowk of the district headquarters had created a sensation in the entire area. Six shops and a motorcycle were burnt to ashes in this arson. The police found in the investigation that someone had set this fire. The police acted swiftly in this case and identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage installed around the incident site and arrested him.

Actually this whole incident happened on the night of 16th March at 2 o’clock, when suddenly there was a report of fire in the market, the fire brigade team immediately reached the spot. After hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control, but by then six shops and a motorcycle had been burnt to ashes. The operators suffered heavy losses due to this fire. The next day the police started investigating the case and searched the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident site.

In the footage, a person was seen setting fire in a suspicious manner. After this, the police intensified the investigation and identified the suspect as Omkar Yadav. Police investigation revealed that the accused Omkar Yadav was drunk at the time of the incident. He carried out the incident of setting fire in the market in an intoxicated state. The accused carried out this arson with the intention of setting fire to the motorcycle parked in front of the shoe shop and the fire spread from the bike burnt down six shops to ashes.

6 shopkeepers suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees

Kotwali police station in-charge Vijay Yadav said that the accused was identified on the basis of CCTV footage and was promptly arrested. Legal action is being taken against him on charges of arson and damage to property. 6 shopkeepers of Hatri Bazaar suffered losses worth lakhs in this arson. Precious goods kept in many shops were burnt to ashes, causing a loss of lakhs of rupees to the traders. A motorcycle was also completely burnt.
