Collector’s strict instructions to the people concerned to ensure water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission
Collector did a thorough review of the work progress of Jal Jeevan Mission

An in-depth review of the works of Jal Jeevan Mission was done today under the chairmanship of Shri Rohit Vyas, Collector and Chairman, District Water and Sanitation Mission, Surajpur. During this, he received detailed information about the progress of the works of the mission in various areas of the district, water tank construction, progress of pipeline and water supply. In view of the unsatisfactory state of work progress under the mission, the collector has given instructions to take strict action against all the responsible people. Also, expressing displeasure, he has also instructed the officials of the PHE department to blacklist all such construction agencies in areas where work has not started or the quality of work is not good or the work has not been completed. During this, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Deputy Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department, Surajpur, all construction agency ISA District Coordinators, NGO Team Leader, District In-charge Officer from CREDA Department, SI from CREDA Construction Agency were present.
During the review, Collector Shri Vyas obtained information through direct discussion with the construction agency working in each village. During this time, instructions were given to start all the unstarted works in the next 7 days. If the construction agencies do not start the work within this 7 day period, then the collector has given instructions to immediately terminate their contracts and blacklist them. It
is worth noting that a total of 87 high level water tank construction works have not started yet in the district. These construction agencies include 14 construction works of Aquagrant Water Purifier, 13 of Kalwant Goyal, 6 of Ganesh Buildcon, 5 of P.R. Construction and 7 of Prakash Kumar Agarwal. If the construction work is not started, action will be taken against the above agencies as well as all other agencies. Similarly, solar power pumps and tanks are to be installed by the construction agencies of the CREDA department. Including the works of 57 of RBP, 41 of RWAYS, 56 of Meera and Cico and others, a total of 240 solar based pump installation and tank construction works are pending in the district.
Apart from this, a total of 11 surface source based group water supply schemes are in progress in the district. Under these groups, drinking water supply is proposed in a total of 413 villages. All construction agencies have been instructed to complete it by March 2025. 11 NGOs are also working under this mission. Out of which 05 NGOs are not doing the work as per the standards. They have been instructed to work. In case of not doing the work, instructions have been given to take action to cancel their contracts as well.
According to the information received from the Executive Engineer, water is being supplied from tanks and solar tanks installed in 130 villages of the district. Where the work has been completed, instructions have been given to transfer it to the Gram Panchayats in a phased manner and to make the monthly water tax compulsory for the Sarpanchs and Secretaries to ensure smooth supply of drinking water in the taps. Also, electricity bills, pump operator and other maintenance work can be done by the concerned Gram Panchayats.
Apart from this, Collector Shri Vyas has also directed that if monthly water tax is not collected by the Gram Panchayats, in such a situation, legal action will be taken. For the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission, Collector Shri Vyas has instructed to present the progress information in the time-bound meeting every week and also instructed to do a detailed review of Jal Jeevan Mission every month.
On this occasion, the Collector also instructed all the concerned officers present to go to the field and monitor the work going on under Jal Jeevan Mission so that the quality of the ongoing work can be tested in real form and regularly. He also told the contractors to necessarily inform the district administration in case of land dispute or any other type of problem in the construction work being done under the mission.
