Supply of petrol and diesel under police protection in Chhattisgarh: Stones pelted on bus carrying passengers; CM gave instructions to set up a control room

The new law regarding hit and run will not be implemented yet. The central government has appealed to the striking truck drivers to return to work. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla made this point in a meeting with All India Motor Transport Congress in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Earlier, the bus-truck drivers’ strike in Chhattisgarh was also seen in a violent form. Truck and bus drivers blocked Raipur-Jagdalpur-Odisha National Highway-30 on Tuesday evening. At the same time, stones were pelted at the bus carrying passengers in Sukma. Due to this the glass panes of the bus were broken. In Bilaspur also there was a fight between a pump employee and a youth.

The strike of bus-truck drivers has affected the supply of petrol, diesel and vegetables. Due to this, the prices of vegetables have increased in retail. Petrol-diesel tanks are being sent to Korba under police protection. Some petrol pumps in Surguja, Raipur, Bilaspur and Kondagaon have gone dry. Instructions to maintain supply of essential commodities.

On the other hand, regarding the strike, CM Vishnudev Sai has given instructions to maintain smooth supply of essential commodities. He said that there should be no shortage. Also, the law and order situation in the district remained under control. Collector and SP will be directly responsible for this.

CM said in the meeting that correct information should reach the common people and misleading news should not spread. Action should be taken against those spreading rumours. Officials should inquire about the availability of petrol, diesel, medicines, fruits, vegetables, grains and ensure its continuous supply.

Control room should be made at state and district level

Police should patrol continuously and keep an eye on the situation. A control room should be created at the state and district level which will operate 24 hours. Immediate action should be taken if the supply of any essential item is disrupted. The Chief Minister said that the administration should talk to all the stock holders to see if hoarding is happening. Prices of vegetables increased by Rs 10 to 20 in the retail market.

T. Srinivas Reddy, President of Doomratarai Wholesale Vegetable Market of Raipur, said that up to 75 percent supply of vegetables has come to a standstill. Trucks carrying vegetables from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bengal and Gujarat have not arrived. On normal days, 120 to 130 trucks arrive in the markets of Raipur, but only 30 arrived on Monday. Due to this, retail prices of vegetables have increased by Rs 10 to 20. Orders to continue fuel supply.

Trucks remained parked at the petrol and LPG depot of Mandir Hassaud throughout the day on Monday. Due to this, there was a shortage of petrol in Raipur and nearby cities. In view of this, Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department, Jitendra Shukla has issued an order saying that these are essential services. Korba: Petrol-diesel tanks being transported under police protection.

Petrol, diesel and cooking gas is being supplied under police protection in Korba. Tankers are being transported from Darri Oil Depot to other districts of the state under police protection. Raipur: Bus strike till 3rd

There are long queues at petrol pumps in Raipur. People are getting petrol after a long wait. Many pumps are empty. Ambikapur: School buses and vans also closed
