Sukma 08 January 2021. The implementation of beneficiary oriented schemes by the Livestock Development Department is successfully taking place in Sukma district. The district departmental plans such as backyard poultry rearing , Sabari layer farming , pig rearing , poultry , goat rearing, etc. by adding economic strength to beneficiaries under the schemes of livelihood oriented activities , are being encouraged to self-reliance and self-sufficiency.
Under the poverty alleviation scheme, in order to make women self-help groups self-reliant, the livestock development department District Sukma gave eleven self-help groups of village panchayat Kerala in the month of November 50-50 each.The nugget was given to Kadaknath chickens and granules. With which they can help in increasing their income as well as strengthening the economic situation.
The
women from Chitrakara Keralapal, Satyam Self Help Group , Jai Maa Kali Self Help Group and Shivam Self Help Group, gave enough time to look after the chicks said that Kadaknath’s chicks found a way to self-reliance. The women said that the chicks provided by the department are of the best breed from which they will definitely earn financial benefits. Jai Maa Kali Group President Smt. Sukri Markam said that these chicks are given three times daily, which helps in their growth. 50 kg granule has also been provided by the department for chickens .
On the other hand, Smt. Gandheshwari Mandal, chairperson of Sherawali Self Help Group of village Keralapala Roadpara, said that the women of the group give enough time to look after the chickens. The members of the group are quite enthusiastic about the rearing of Kadaknath chicks. They give chicks in a dose by mixing rice , paddy , kondha etc. with the grains so that they grow quickly. Along with this, the enclosure is covered with cloth and sacks from all four sides to protect it from the cold so that the chickens can survive the seasonal winter. The bulb and bonfire lighting system for the morning and keep you warm at night enclosure , which remains balanced temperature in the enclosure.
Kadnath’s business tax will earn thousands of rupees
During the discussion, the beneficiary women told that the chickens of Kadkanath breed have a good price in the market. Due to its nutritious properties, it is about two to three times the price as compared to chickens of ordinary species. Despite being expensive, people do not hesitate to buy it. Kadaknath is easily sold in the local market at a rate of about Rs 800 per kg. Member of Jai Maa Kali Self Help Group, Smt. Deve Mishra said that the people of the neighborhood around them have already got the names written for the chickens. The chickens , weighing around 700 grams , will sell Kadaknath to their customers after having enough weight.
Women of self-help groups can earn more income by doing business of Kadaknath provided by the government. They will be benefited by selling Kadaknath from the business, as well as they can prepare the next lot on their own with the chicks coming out of the eggs. Due to its distinct taste and nutritious elements, the chickens of the Kadaknath species are good in prevention of many types of diseases and there is good demand for it. Keeping this in mind, chicks have been provided by the government with the aim of making women of poor sections self-reliant and economically self-reliant. The loyalty and dedication of the women of the self-help group shows that the schemes of governance are proving beneficial for the rural sector. In which the villagers see a strong road to self-reliance and self-reliance.
