Truck and bus drivers of Chhattisgarh are once again going on an indefinite strike from Wednesday in protest against the hit and run law. More than 65 thousand drivers will be on strike on the call of Chhattisgarh Drivers Maha Sangathan. Chhattisgarh Highway Transport Association has also supported this movement.
State President of Chhattisgarh Driver General Organization, Pritam Sen said that along with protesting against the black law of the Central Government, we are agitating with 12-point demands. Our main demand is that the law brought by the government against drivers should be withdrawn. If the law is not withdrawn, the strike was decided
Chairman Sen said that the government has talked to All India Motor Transport in Delhi. Whereas there has been no discussion with the drivers for whom the law has been made. At that time drivers were on strike across the country.
During that time, driver unions of 28 states also went to protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. At that time it was decided by the union that if the government does not withdraw its law then everyone will go on indefinite strike from January 10.
Abhiram Kshatriya, Deputy General Secretary of the General Organization, said that the discussions held by the Central Government regarding the law were with the Transport Association. The transporters themselves exploit the drivers. The financial condition of the driver is weak.
He said that, in such a situation, no one else but the driver can understand the pain, suffering and problems of the driver. Therefore, drivers across the state are going on indefinite strike from tomorrow.
Will hand over keys to vehicle owners
President Pritam Sen said that all the drivers will gather in Telibandha at 11 am on Wednesday and the keys will be handed over to the owners of the vehicles. During this time, Chhattisgarh Highway Transport Association President Vinod Aggarwal and vehicle owners associated with the association will be present. These things will be affected.
Due to the drivers’ strike in Chhattisgarh, the wheels of all heavy vehicles including buses, autos, school buses, goods carriages, petrol and diesel vehicles will stop.
Indefinite strike regarding these demands
There should be a provision for strictest legal action in case any common citizen assaults or misbehaves with the driver.
A separate health card should be issued to all the drivers, in which free treatment for even the most serious diseases should be provided in any private or government hospital of the country.
Pension benefits should be given after the driver completes 50 years of age.
In case of death of the driver in any accident, the driver should be given martyr status and martyr certificate.
The driver or his family should be provided accommodation under a separate housing scheme.
Pension benefits should be given in case of death or disability of the driver.
Insurance of Rs 25 to 30 lakh in case the driver dies during an accident.
Reservation should be given to the driver or his family members in the recruitment of any government job.
Under the Right to Education, children of separate drivers should be provided free education in any private or government schools.
Illegal police administration should be stopped and it should be stopped.
Drivers should be given one day off on the last day of the month.
Toilet and rest room facilities should be provided within 10 km on the road.
There should be insurance along with the license.
Co-driver (conductor) should be made mandatory in the vehicle.
