Raipur. Chhattisgarh government has made a plan to develop the state capital region by including Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, Raipur Bhilai and Durg on the lines of the National Capital Region. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Housing and Environment Minister OP Chaudhary have directed to complete all the ongoing projects in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar within the time limit. Departmental Minister OP Choudhary has instructed the officials to take strict action against the contractors doing low quality work.
In compliance with the above instructions, a detailed review of all the works was done by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Smart City Limited. After review, the Board of Directors of Smart City took the decision to terminate the contract with the current contractor and get the work done by a new contractor for those works whose progress was very slow and the work did not speed up even after giving notices to the contractors several times. Today, on January 19, Has been taken in the meeting held in 2024. The contractor whose contract has been terminated is also the brother of a former minister of the previous government. It is noteworthy here that some particular contractor was taking on a lot of work for the Smart City and the work was being carried out arbitrarily and the government and Even after giving repeated notices by the officers and engineers of the authority, the expected progress in the works was not coming. Due to this the speed and quality of the works was being affected. Therefore, for public interest and city development, the contract for 10 construction works worth Rs 218.7 crore has been canceled from the old contractor. The remaining works have been directed to be completed quickly while keeping the quality in mind and accelerating the pace of work.
It is noteworthy that Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is of a citizen-friendly and well-equipped urban development, under which Nava Raipur Atal Nagar has also been selected. This project is being run by the Government of India only till June 2024. Due to the slow pace and poor quality of the works, the citizens of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar and the employees working in the capital region would have been deprived of this development. Keeping in mind the deadline of Smart City of June 2024, even after giving verbal warning and written notice to the concerned contractor several times, due to lack of expected progress, works related to public interest like school, Anganwadi, bus staff, garden, parking etc. A public utility decision has been taken by Smart City Limited to complete the project within the time limit and complete the development work in the capital region at a fast pace as per the wish of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
