Raipur. State Sports Minister Tank Ram Verma held a review meeting of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department in the ministry today. In this meeting, he gave necessary instructions to the officials to strengthen the sports facilities in the state. In this meeting, a presentation of the activities and achievements of the department was made and the outline of the upcoming proposed activities was also discussed.
Expansion of sports infrastructure and activities
During the meeting, Verma directed to prepare an action plan on the maintenance and expansion of the existing sports infrastructure of the state. He emphasized on the need to prepare a strong action plan of 5 years to encourage sports activities and creative activities among the youth. Verma directed to implement a strong and transparent scheme of “Chhattisgarh Sports Promotion Scheme” and “Mukhyamantri Yuva Ratna” award from this session.
Outstanding Sportsperson Awards and “Khelo India” Scheme
It was informed in the meeting that the announcement of awards for the remaining years of Uttam Khiladi Abhiyan will also be made soon. Along with the current budget received under the “Khelo India” scheme of the Central Government, the process of sending proposals for the development of new districts and new sports is also underway.
Affiliation with Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education
Minister Tankaram Verma instructed to make efforts at the central level to start a unit college in Chhattisgarh by getting affiliation from Lakshmibai National Physical Education Institute established in Madhya Pradesh. He also instructed to prepare a separate action plan for the preservation, promotion and facilities of the popular and traditional sports of the state.
Recruitment process for vacant posts and ad-hoc appointments
The Sports Minister directed to speed up the recruitment process for the vacant posts of the department and to fill the vacancies soon. He said that till the recruitment process is completed, contractual appointments, especially for coaches, should be considered on ad-hoc basis. He also gave instructions to resolve the promotions, salary increments, time scale pay scale and investigation cases of departmental officers and employees quickly.
Website Update and Review Meeting
In the end, Verma also gave instructions to update the departmental website and make it usable. Departmental Secretary Himshikhar Gupta, Joint Secretary Taran Prakash Sinha, Director Tanuja Salam and officials of the Ministry and Directorate were present in the review meeting.
