Raipur: Work is being done with full commitment for the interest of journalists and their safety in Chhattisgarh

 The Chief Minister participated in the conference of the Indian Journalist Union organized in the capital.

Raipur, 17 March 2023,  Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today attended a press conference organized at Punjab Kesari Bhavan, Jora, Raipur under the aegis of Chhattisgarh Working Journalist Welfare Association. On this occasion, on behalf of the organisers, he honored the journalists with the Pioneer of Journalism Award. Apart from Raipur, journalists from Bastar, Surguja, Raipur and Durg divisions were also honoured.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel was thanked on behalf of the Journalist Welfare Association for an unprecedented welcome on the important decision regarding the Chhattisgarh Media Personnel Security Bill in the interest of journalists in the state. This two-day event has been organized by the Chhattisgarh unit of the Indian Journalist Union in the capital Raipur till March 18.

Addressing the conference, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the National Executive meeting of the Indian Journalist Union is being organized in Chhattisgarh, it is a matter of great pride. He said that at present, with the increase in the platform of communication, many challenges have also increased in the field of journalism. The biggest challenge is how to preserve the value of journalism. I am told that journalists from all over the country are participating in this event. Therefore, I hope that there will be a deep discussion on this subject in the conference and comprehensive decisions will be taken in the interest of journalism and journalists.

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that today in the meeting of the Council of Ministers, our government has taken a decision regarding bringing Journalist Protection Act in the state. Our government is determined for the freedom of the press in the state and for that we have started implementation as soon as we came into power. Similarly, in this year’s budget, we have made a provision of 50 lakh rupees for the implementation of housing loan interest subsidy scheme for journalists, so that the dream of our journalist colleagues can be fulfilled. In this way, our government in Chhattisgarh is working with full commitment to protect the freedom of expression in all mediums of journalism in the state.

The program was presided over by senior journalist Mr. Ashif Iqbal, the stage was conducted by journalist Mr. VD Nizami and gratitude was expressed by Mr. Gend Lal Shukla of Korba. The Chief Minister was welcomed by Mr. Mahesh Kumar Tiwari and Mr. Vinod Srivastava of Bilaspur. The program started with the lighting of the lamp. Journalist Mr. Abhishek Sharma was present with the Chief Minister.
