Raipur Police has taken major action during vehicle checking. Cash worth Rs 50 lakh has been seized from a pickup vehicle going to Odisha. It is being told that the cash was kept hidden in a carton among the sacks of potatoes. Police were checking vehicles in Arang police station area.
In fact, during the ongoing checking in view of the Lok Sabha elections, a pickup vehicle loaded with potatoes was stopped near Mahasamund intersection. The vehicle was registered with Odisha number, which was being driven by Pratap Pradhan, a resident of Dhenkanal, Odisha.
As soon as the potato sacks were removed the carton was visible
When the police interrogated him, he told that he was going to Odisha with potatoes from Durg. When these potato sacks were removed, there was a carton placed at the bottom. During examination of the carton, Rs 50 lakh cash was found.
The driver said- I don’t know whose money this is
During interrogation, driver Pratap Pradhan told the police that he did not know whose money it was. After which the police is now locating the goods loaded in the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle. Also, the police has handed over this money to the Income Tax Department.
SST and police are checking
Actually, Raipur District Election Officer Gaurav Singh and SSP Raipur Santosh Singh are running a checking campaign to maintain law and order. In this campaign, there are instructions for continuous monitoring of vehicles coming in and out of the state and district through check posts and SSTs, flying squads.
For this, vehicles are being searched by setting up check posts at various places. This action was taken during this search.
