Raman Singh was elected Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly. He has been elected unopposed. CM Sai and Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant took him to Asandi. During this, Mahant said that where you are sitting is my past. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Leader of Opposition Charan Das Mahant, Brijmohan Aggarwal, Ajay Chandrakar and Kedar Kashyap had proposed to make Raman Singh the Speaker of the Assembly.

Deputy CM Arun Sao, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Punnulal Mohale, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma and MLA Bhavana Bohra supported him. The proceedings of the House have been adjourned till Wednesday morning with the swearing in of the MLAs. They took oath in Chhattisgarhi.
