Jashpur. BJP has formed an inquiry committee on the controversy over the death of Rajendra Chorat due to natural disaster in the district and the tradition of his last rites. Party’s state president Kiran Singh Dev has formed a four-member committee. Shivratan Sharma will be the convener of the committee, while other members include MP Radheshyam Rathia, MLA Gomti Sai, and Renuka Singh. This committee will submit its report within 7 days.

Rajendra Chorat died on 13 August due to lightning. His body was cremated as per Christian rituals, to which the family objected. The family demanded a Hindu funeral and also filed an application in the police station demanding the return of the body.
Seeing the protests raised by the family and at the local level, BJP has formed this committee to investigate the matter. This matter is a topic of discussion in the area as it is related to religious traditions and local sentiments.
