Raipur’s Kankali temple opens once a year: worship takes place on Vijayadashami

Raipur. A temple in the capital Raipur, which opens once a year. Today this temple is opened on the occasion of Shastra Puja, this temple is known as Kankali Math. Here on the day of Dashami, puja is performed continuously from 6 am to 12 midnight. There is a long queue of devotees in this temple since morning. Usually, worship and aarti is done daily in temples. It has been believed for decades that worship should be done daily in temples.
There is a temple of ‘Kankali Mata’, a form of Adishakti, in Raipur, where today the goddess is worshiped only for one day i.e. on the day of Dashami. This unique tradition has been going on for centuries. This temple is famous by the name Kankali Math. It is said that years ago, the responsibility of maintaining this temple used to be with Naga Sadhus. In 1980, Naga Sadhus handed over this temple to Mahat Shankar Giri. After this, Mahant Shankar Giri of Kankali Math took alive Samadhi in the courtyard of this temple. Temple priest Abhijeet Giri told that today the doors of this temple open on the day of Sahastra Puja.
There is continuous worship in this temple from 6 am to 12 midnight. A large number of devotees reach the temple today..Pandit Abhijeet said, on this day Kankali Mata appears and blesses her devotees. People offer gold leaf and puja material here after worshiping as Prasad. At 12 o’clock in the night the temple lessons are stopped for about a year. After that, this temple is opened exactly after one year on the day of Vijayadashami.
