Chhattisgarh is a zero power cut state and the electricity bill half scheme has brought great relief to the people. Our government has so far given a rebate of Rs 3236 crore to 42 lakh consumers through the Electricity Bill Half Scheme. In the year 2018, where there was 4100 MW electricity consumption in peak hour, in 2023, even though this demand will increase to 5100 MW, the power supply in the state is running at an uninterrupted pace. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said these things while addressing the State Level Power Engineers Conclave 2023 organized in Raipur today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to implement cashless medical facility for the officers and employees of Chhattisgarh Power Companies and to give 3 percent technical allowance to the engineer cadre of Chhattisgarh Power Companies.

During this, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated the office of the Chhattisgarh Electricity Board Engineers Association and also released a souvenir based on important information of the power sector. At the beginning of the conclave, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel bowed down to Chhattisgarh Mahtari and Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya by lighting a lamp on his photograph.
Addressing the conclave, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that earlier people used to live without electricity, but now life without electricity cannot be imagined. Electricity has become a necessity rather than a luxury. He further said that at the time of establishment of the state, per capita consumption of electricity was 300 units, which has now increased to 2000 units per capita. The ever-increasing power consumption and the corresponding supply is an indicator of the state’s development.
Referring to the important decision of the government, he said that 1320 MW super critical unit has been approved in Korba. Which will prove to be an important step towards maintaining zero power cut state in the state. The Chief Minister described green energy as the need of the hour in view of environmental protection and said that in the second wave of Corona, we all have also understood the importance of oxygen. Work is also being done on the possibilities of green energy in Chhattisgarh. Five hydel plants can be set up in the state, due to which dependence on thermal power plants can be reduced for power generation.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the Electricity Board Engineers Association for getting a fully equipped office. The Electricity Board Engineers Association honored the Chief Minister by presenting mementoes and shawls and quinces on the occasion. The conclave was also addressed by Mr. Ankit Anand, Secretary, Energy Department and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, Mr. Hemant Verma, Chairman, State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Mr. Rajesh Pandey, President of Chhattisgarh Electricity Board Engineer’s Association, read the welcome speech.
On this occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Vikas Upadhyay, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited, Mrs. Ujjwala Baghel, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited, Mr. Manoj Khare, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited, Mr. Sanjeev Katiyar, along with Engineers Association Office bearers and electrical engineers from all over the state were present.
