In a virtual program organized at his residence office on the occasion of World Tribal Day, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has made efforts to organize IITs, NITs, Triple I.T. And awarded a total of 83 students admitted in medical colleges. Among these students, Chief Minister Anurag Lakra, Sandeep Kumar Tigga, Ku. Jyoti Rautia and Ku Sakshi Bhagat were honored at their residence office and the remaining 79 students were felicitated virtually. On this occasion, ex-gratia amount of Rs. 50-50 thousand was also given to all these students for laptops.
It is noteworthy that Anurag Lakra (currently studying in IIT, Kharagpur) and Sandeep Kumar Tigga (studying in IIT BHU) who have entered IIT from the JEE Advanced examination of the year 2021 are students of Prayas Residential School, Saddu, Raipur, while Ku. Jyoti Rautia (neet 2000 qualified and admitted in Medical College, Raipur) and Ku Sakshi Bhagat (admitted in Medical College, Ambikapur) are students of Prayas Girls Residential School, Gudhiyari, Raipur. On this occasion, Home Minister Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu, Food Minister Shri Amarjit Bhagat, Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Dwarkadhish Yadav, Advisor to Chief Minister Shri Rajesh Tiwari, Chief Minister K. Additional Chief Secretary Shri Subrata Sahu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Shri Rakesh Chaturvedi along with senior administrative officers were present.
It should be noted that Prayas Vidyalaya is an important component of Mukhyamantri Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Yojana, under which meritorious students of Naxal-affected districts of the state are taught from class 9th to 12th along with JEE. Mains-Advanced), NEET, PET, CLAT, CA. Coaching is given for competitive exams etc. Presently 09 Prayas Vidyalayas are operating in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Surguja, Kanker, Bastar, Korba and Jashpur districts, in which total 4120 seats are sanctioned. So far, 70 students from these schools have attended IITs. 221 students N.I. T. and Triple IT and 772 students have been selected for admission in engineering colleges and 39 students for medical colleges.
Similarly, Eklavya Model Residential Schools have been started by providing quality education to scheduled tribe students and bringing them at par with the general caste students, inculcating the spirit of competition in them and making them successful in competitive examinations. In the academic session 2020-21, a total of 71 Eklavya Adarsh ​​Residential Schools are operating in the state from class 6th to 12th. There is a provision to admit 420 children in each school at the rate of 60 students per class. A proposal has been sent to the Government of India for approval to start 04 new Eklavya schools from this academic session. In this way, now the number of Eklavya schools will increase to 75.
