Birsa Munda was also one such epoch-making personality, who made the identity of a Jannayak in a short period. Birsa Munda was one such tribal leader who raised his voice against exploitation, slavery. He changed the condition and direction of tribal society with his revolutionary thinking. Birsa Munda also challenged the then British Empire by running a great revolt ‘Ulgulan’ against the eviction of tribals from water, forest, land and their natural resources. He organized the tribals to struggle against the laws imposed by the British rule. They cause epidemics, cholera, Not considering smallpox etc. as a divine wrath, used to give information about the measures to avoid them. Birsa Munda organized the tribals against the system and superstitions of that time and fought till the last time.
The Governor said that Birsa Munda realized that the tribal society was surrounded by social evils and ostentation. In view of this, he made the society aware to stay away from these evils and against the ostentatious prevailing in the society and inspired the society to embrace the good. He said that we have got invaluable freedom because of many freedom fighters and great heroes like Birsa Munda, Gundadhur and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh.
