Raipur, 26 July 2020. Women of self-help groups associated with the National Livelihood Mission are gaining success in new areas of self-employment and livelihood. These women have mastered many fields such as animal husbandry, donpatti and nutritious food manufacturing, brick business, canteen operations, fencing wire manufacturing. In this sequence, now these women have started making dessert. The income of women involved in this business will increase, as well as the local people will get employment.
In Kondagaon district, 30 women of self help groups are making coconut barfi, laddus and cakes. After the manufacture of these sweets, an action plan has also been chalked out to make them available for sale. The women said that they have undergone training in making coconut barfi, laddus and cakes. Also training on packaging and marketing. They are all very excited to learn this new work. And she also wants to adopt it as a business. Women of Bihan group are also being trained to make pickles, chips, chocolate. This effort to find employment in sweet flavors is certainly commendable. Women will also earn success in the confectionery business.
The climate of Kondagaon district is consistent with coconut cultivation. There is abundance of coconut here. Apart from this, the local farmers are constantly being encouraged to grow coconut by the Coconut Development Board at Copabeda. Coconut is beneficial for health. The special thing is that sweets made from coconut are not likely to be adulterated.
