Raipur, 10 March 2021. Women are benefiting from the Godhan Nyaya Yojana in Chhattisgarh. Women groups are now getting regular employment under the scheme. Ladli women self-help group of Balrampur-Ramanujganj district is working to prepare vermi manure from cow dung purchased under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana in Basantpur Gauthan of Wadrafnagar development block. Dung is purchased at Gauthan at the rate of Rs. 2 per kg and vermicompost is being prepared from it and is being sold at the rate of Rs. 10 per kg. As a result of the efficient management and professional approach of women, the Ladli group women have prepared 226.52 quintals of fertilizer and sold it to the horticulture and forest department, earning more than Rs 2 lakh. Gowthan has become synonymous with self-reliance and economic prosperity by providing new livelihood opportunities, which has also increased the confidence of women.
13 women working in the group are joining the Gothan and climbing new steps of economic progress. The cooperation and guidance of the administration has given new wings to the courage of the women and they have fulfilled the government’s intention to make Gauthan self-reliant. Smt. Preeti Singh, chairperson of Ladli Group, said that in rural lifestyle, cow dung has been used in various works, But through the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, the government made aware of its commercial importance and increased the income of cattle rearers and benefited them by creating employment for women. He said that the continuous cooperation of the administration kept us connected to this employment and it is the result of this that we have earned more than two lakhs by selling manure. From Gothan itself, 13 women of the group got the means of permanent employment and they did not have to go elsewhere for livelihood. Along with preparing vermi compost in Gauthan, the women of the group are also doing the work of bari development. Other members of the group said that their economic problems have been overcome by getting employment in Gothan and they are able to contribute to the upkeep of the family.
Chief Executive Officer of Janpad Panchayat Vadrafnagar, Mr. Vedprakash Pandey says that the Godhan Nyaya Yojana has become a means of earning in addition to the cattlemen and women’s groups. More than 200 women from 21 women’s groups of 21 Gothans of Wadrafnagar have been linked to employment of vermicomposting. A total of 16 thousand 290.56 quintal cow dung has been purchased in 21 Gothans of the development block Wadrafnagar and 1 thousand 889 quintal vermi manure has been prepared and sold, which has also earned an income of more than Rs 18 lakhs. The Godhan Nyaya Yojana has not only strengthened the rural economy, but the large sections are also getting employment. Gauthans have shown a new path of development by emerging as a center of livelihood, in which women play a larger role and take it further.
