On the last day of withdrawal of nominations, 14 independent candidates of Raipur South Assembly withdrew their names in support of Mahant Ramsundar Das. All these candidates come from Muslim community. There will be direct competition between them. In Raipur North Assembly seat, Congress rebel Ajit Kukreja and Bharatiya Janata Party rebel Savitri Jagat will contest against their own party’s candidate. After the independent candidates withdrew their nominations, Congress candidate Mahant Ramsundar Das and Mayor Ejaz Dhebar, Municipal Corporation Chairman Pramod Dubey took a press conference. All 14 independent candidates said that we all are impressed by the work of Mahant Ramsundar Das, hence we all have withdrawn our nominations and now we will work in his campaign. Mayor Ejaz Dhebar said that we are getting Mahant Ramsundar Das ji elected as soon as the councilor elections. Brijmohan Aggarwal does not roam from house to house, he leaves people after feeding them paan and placing his hand on their shoulders. We want Mahant ji to go among the people and understand the public.
