Raipur, 30 September 2020. Under the guidance of Village Industries Minister Guru Rudrakumar, village industry has become a source of employment for villagers. While the weavers have turned the disaster of the Corona transition period into an opportunity, 76 families of eight weavers’ committees of Bastar district prepared a garment worth Rs 25 lakh. Assistant director of handloom office of Bastar district said that a total of 76 weaver families of Kawadgaon and Garenga are jointly producing garments. Approximately Rs 25 lakh worth of garments have been produced by the committee in 2019-20. Weaver member of the committee Government uniforms, chadars, handkerchiefs, traditional saris, Skilled in making towels etc. Most of the weaver families are becoming economically capable by installing handlooms in their homes and weaving clothes along with agricultural work. Similarly, in the lockdown period also all the weavers of the district are able to produce and weave. Weaver families of a total of 08 weavers’ societies are involved in employment through cooperative societies. District handloom office, Jagdalpur is giving benefit of skill upgradation training, advanced equipment, weaver’s housing, revolving fund assistance to the weavers through the committees. Also, their wages are paid by the top weavers union, Rajendra Nagar Raipur. Chhattisgarh Due to payment of regular yarn supply and weaving wages by the State Handloom Development and Marketing Association, Raipur, weavers are becoming self-reliant and self-reliant as well as the economic condition of the weavers is getting better with the benefits of departmental schemes.
