Raipur, 13 August 2021. Water is being released continuously from Leech diversion and Balar reservoir located in Kasdol development block of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district. Water Resources Division Kasdol Executive Engineer informed that water is being supplied for irrigation from July 19 last month on the demand of farmers and the situation of scanty rainfall in the command area of leech diversion scheme. Due to which water supply for irrigation is going on in about 11 thousand 500 acres of 81 villages of Kasdol and Bilaigarh development block, command area of this diversion.
The Executive Engineer informed that at present 60 percent water is available in Balar Reservoir. In view of the scanty rainfall situation in the area, water was supplied for irrigation in 620 acres of 8 villages from the available water in the pick-up weir located below the Balar reservoir. At present, in view of the situation of rain, continuous water supply is being done by opening the gate of the reservoir for water supply from August 11. He said that all the 58 minor reservoirs under Kasdol Water Resources Division have an average water logging of 49 percent at present. Water is being supplied for irrigation according to the water available in minor irrigation schemes and the demand of the farmers. It is noteworthy that there is a major leech diversion scheme, a medium Balar reservoir scheme, 58 minor reservoirs and 39 diversion schemes in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district under Water Resources Construction Division Kasdol.
