With the announcement of the date for the bye-election, the model code of conduct is effective in Kanker district.

The date has been announced for the bye-election for Bhanupratappur assembly constituency, which fell vacant due to the death of Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and MLA of Bhanupratappur assembly constituency, Shri Manoj Mandavi. Voting for Bhanupratappur Vidhan Sabha by-election in Kanker district will be held on 5th December. Counting of votes will be done on December 8. With the announcement of the election schedule by the Election Commission of India, the model code of conduct has become effective in Kanker district.
Chhattisgarh’s Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale told in a press conference held at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office today that notification for Bhanupratappur Vidhan Sabha by-election will be published on November 10. The last date for filing nomination papers will be November 17. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on 18th November after the close of nomination. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till November 21. Polling for the bye-election will be held on 5th December and counting of votes will be done on 8th December.
