Under the Bharatmala project, an economy corridor is being built between Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. This expressway will connect the capital Raipur to Visakhapatnam. After this, the distance between these two cities will not only reduce but also due to the hi-tech road, wild animals will not face any problem.
A 400 kilometer road is being built in Phase-1 of the project. It will start from Abhanpur near Raipur and end at Sabbavaram near Andhra Pradesh. With the construction of the corridor, Chhattisgarh will also be directly connected to Odisha. PM Modi laid its foundation stone in July 2023. This corridor can be completed by the end of 2024. The entire road will be hi-tech, animals will also be taken care of.
Vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 80 KM per hour on this expressway. Under the Bharatmala Project, different parts of the country are being connected by expressways. Special care is being taken of wild animals during its construction. There will be a boundary wall on the highway in the forests.
27 under-passes are being built for animals in this six-lane corridor. Animals will be able to move from one end to the other through these underpasses. It will also be sound-proof. Also, canopy will be constructed for monkeys to cross.
Raipur to Visakhapatnam in 7 hours
The distance from Raipur to Visakhapatnam is about 546 kilometers and it takes 12 hours to cover. After the corridor is built, the distance will reduce to 463 kilometers and the time will take only 7 hours. Apart from this, there will be relief from traffic also. Vehicles will be allowed to enter only from certain places on this road. This is the advantage of the project.
With the construction of this corridor, three states will get the option of a new road, while Concor India’s dry port in Raipur will be directly connected to Visakhapatnam Sea Port. Through this route, not only iron ore but also paddy and rice along with other goods from the state can be directly exported to countries like Japan, China and Australia.
