Raipur: Universities will have to make concerted efforts to enhance the quality of higher education: Governor Ms. Uikey

Raipur, 29 September 2021. The 27th meeting of the University Coordination Committee was held today in the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan under the chairmanship of Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey. In this meeting, Health Minister  T.S. Singhdeo, Higher Education Minister  Umesh Patel and members of the coordination committee were present. In the meeting, meaningful discussions were held in relation to increasing the quality of higher education in the state, making students capable according to today’s competitive era and preparing employment oriented courses etc. and some important decisions were passed.
The Governor said that in order to enhance the quality of higher education in the state, it is necessary to evaluate all the colleges through NAAC. He said that a cell should also be made to give career guidance to the students during their studies, so that they can get employment by choosing subjects according to their ability. It is also necessary to set up a placement cell in all the colleges. He said that early efforts should be made to implement the New Education Policy 2020 in the state. He instructed the universities to make courses in this regard, So that it can be implemented from the next academic session. He asked all the Vice Chancellors to conduct regular inspections of the colleges and directed to send quarterly reports regarding the activities of the University. He said that according to the new education policy, students should also be given the knowledge of moral education, which is the cornerstone of a strong nation.
Ms. Uike said that the university administration and the faculty should all treat the students in a sensitive manner during the COVID period. Every university should arrange a team of psychiatrists, through which counseling to overcome the mental problems of the students during the Kovid period. He said that students in colleges should also go to the villages and bring awareness about preventing malnutrition among pregnant mothers and children.
The Governor said that the NIRF released this month. In the 2021 ranking list of (National Institutional Ranking Framework), no university in the state was included in the top 150 universities, which needs to be improved. Universities have to make united efforts to enhance the quality of education. He said that this year we are celebrating Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. All universities should take information about such anonymous freedom fighters under their area and share it with the general public, whose names could not be recorded in history.
Ms. Uike said that more attention has to be paid to conduct excellent research in higher educational institutions. Try to link them with industrial institutions also, so that artists of fine art and other genres can get employment. He also directed to conduct coordination committee meetings regularly.

Health and Panchayat Rural Development Minister T.S. Singhdeo said that the university through its students should go to the nearby villages and bring awareness on their health related issues. For this, some universities have also adopted villages, where the students of National Service Scheme (NSS) go and help the team of health department to organize camps. He said that the department also gets feedback in this regard, which is very important. He said that N.S.S. The students of Kovid gave a lot of support to the Health Department during the Kovid period, which is commendable.
Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel said that by the year 2022, arrangements are being made by the department for NAAC evaluation of all the colleges in the state. He said that the department has started the process of filling academic and non-academic posts in colleges, under which the posts of professors, assistant professors, librarians, sports officers etc. will be filled. He said that the department is also making provision of e-library for the students, so that they can come to the college or study the books through their mobile. He said that in view of the increase in the number of students in colleges this year, more than 15 thousand seats have been increased so that no student remains deprived of higher education.
In the coordination committee, it has been agreed in principle on the proposal of the department to give fellowship to the talented and financially weak researchers. A proposal in this regard will be sent to the Finance Department. A proposal has also been agreed to implement e-governance in higher educational institutions. In the meeting, BA, B.Ed., B.Sc., B.Ed. and B.Com B.Ed. In-principle consent was given on the proposal to start a new course. It is a four year integrated course. In the meeting, it was agreed after discussion regarding budget in universities, promotion of study of textbooks for education quality, consideration of e-governance of state higher educational institutions, implementation of National Education Policy-2020.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Law and Legislative Affairs, Ramkumar Tiwari, Secretary to Governor, Amrit Kumar Khalkho, Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Ms. Shehla Nigar, Joint Secretary, Agriculture and Biotechnology Department,  K.C. Paikra, Secretary, Finance and Planning Department, Mrs. Alarmel Mangai D, Special Secretary, Higher Education, Mr. Bhuvnesh Yadav, Commissioner, Higher Education, Mrs. Sharda Verma, Legal Adviser to Governor Mr. R.K. Agrawal, Deputy Secretary to Governor  Deepak Kumar Agrawal, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Private University Regulatory Commission  Shivvaran Shukla and Vice Chancellors of various universities were present.
