Tomorrow, March 12, will be an unforgettable day for the agricultural state of Chhattisgarh. On this day, the state level launch of Chhattisgarh government’s farmer-friendly Krishak Unnati Yojana will take place in the presence of thousands of farmers and villagers at Saryu Prasad Aggarwal Stadium, district headquarters Balod. In this program organized under the chief hospitality of Union Agriculture Minister Shri Arjun Munda, the input assistance amount of Rs 13 thousand 320 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of about 24 lakh 75 thousand farmers of the state under this scheme.
The inauguration program of Krishak Unnati Yojana will be presided over by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. On this occasion, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mr. Mohan Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Mr. Arun Sao and Mr. Vijay Sharma, Ministers Mr. Ramvichar Netam, Dayaldas Baghel, Kedar Kashyap, MP Kanker Mr. Mohan Mandavi and other public representatives will be prominent.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had guaranteed purchase of paddy from the farmers of Chhattisgarh at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal. To fulfill this guarantee, Chhattisgarh Government’s Krishak Unnati Yojana is going to be launched statewide on Tuesday, March 12. Under this scheme, programs will be organized in all the district headquarters and development block headquarters of the state to transfer the input assistance amount to the farmers in their bank accounts.
Under Krishak Unnati Yojana, farmers will be provided the difference amount of Rs 3100 per quintal from the price of paddy. It is noteworthy here that in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24 in the state, 144.92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from 24.72 lakh farmers of the state at support price, in return for which Rs 31 thousand 914 crore has been paid to the farmers. With the payment of Rs 13 thousand 320 crore to the farmers, the difference in the price of paddy will also be fulfilled by the above guarantee given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the farmers.
As per its promise, the government of farmer-friendly Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has purchased 21 quintals of paddy per acre from the farmers in the state and has also paid the outstanding bonus amount of Rs 3,716 crore for two years of paddy. Chhattisgarh government is continuously making efforts to improve the condition of agriculture and farmers in the state. Agriculture is the main basis of the economy of Chhattisgarh. Only prosperity in the field of agriculture will strengthen the economy of Chhattisgarh and the dream of making it a developed state will come true. Keeping this in mind, the Chhattisgarh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has increased the agriculture budget by 33 percent.
Through Krishak Unnati Yojana, the difference amount of Rs 917 per quintal will be given in the paddy purchased at support price from the farmers of the state. This amount being paid to farmers per quintal of paddy is the highest in the country. Chhattisgarh government has made a provision of Rs 10 thousand crore in this year’s budget and Rs 3 thousand crore in last year’s supplementary budget, thus making a total of Rs 13 thousand crore.
Many innovative initiatives are being taken by the Chhattisgarh government to promote agriculture in the state. Agricultural Business Management College and Research Center will be started at Kunkuri in Jashpur district and Post Harvest Management and Processing Technology College will be started at Ramchandrapur in Balrampur district. Similarly, Government Horticulture and Forestry College will be started in Silphili and Raigarh of Surajpur district, and Agriculture College will be started in Khadganwa of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district.
To promote the use of modern equipment in agriculture, establishment of Directorate of Agricultural Engineering and construction of building of state level new agricultural equipment testing laboratory, agricultural engineering office in Durg and Surguja district and quality control laboratory in Surguja district for testing chemical fertilizers. Is also to be established.
A target of Rs 8,500 crore has been set to provide interest free agricultural loans from cooperative and rural banks to the farmers of the state and to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per year to landless families under the Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Laborers Scheme to help landless agricultural labourers. A provision of Rs 500 crore has been made in the budget for this.
