Sonia Gandhi said this in her video message at a program organized at Mahasamund on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister late Shri Rajiv Gandhi.

In the program, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel transferred an amount of Rs. 2055 crore 60 lakh to the accounts of the beneficiaries under various beneficiary-oriented schemes of the state government, along with he inaugurated and performed Bhumi Pujan of 224 development works worth Rs. 704 crore in Mahasamund district. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated 18 new tehsil and 13 new sub-divisional offices. Including these, there are now 250 tehsils and 122 subdivisions in the state. He also announced to convert Mahasamund Municipality into Municipal Corporation, Gram Panchayat Bhoring into Nagar Panchayat and adding composite building construction in Mahasamund next year’s budget.

In her video message, Mrs. Gandhi said that if we cannot maintain the progress of agriculture, we will not be able to remove poverty from the country. The Government of Chhattisgarh has taken concrete steps to make these dreams of Rajiv ji come true. Due to these steps, the economic level of lakhs of farmers is continuously improving. There is a ray of hope in his life. There is an atmosphere of happiness in the family. I am happy that apart from government subsidy under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, many decisions have been taken for the upliftment of the farmers of Chhattisgarh, which are an example for other states. Due to these decisions of the state government, where the production increased, a new record of increase in the income of the farmers was established. The Government of Chhattisgarh also took meaningful steps for the agricultural laborers. Economic support is being provided through the Rajiv Gandhi Landless Agricultural Laborer Justice Scheme.

Mrs. Gandhi said that Rajiv ji used to say that India is an ancient country but a young nation. In his own words, I am young and I also have a dream. My dream is to bring India strong, independent, self-reliant and to the first place in all the countries of the world and to serve mankind. Today, when we remember these words of Rajiv ji, it is understood that this dream cannot be fulfilled without the youth and farmers of the country. Rajiv ji had unbreakable attachment to the farmers of the country. He had said that if the farmers become weak then the country loses self-reliance but if they are strong then the independence of the country also becomes strong.
