Raipur: Two Panchayats of Chhattisgarh got National Panchayat Award

Gram Panchayat Nagam of Surguja district and village Sankara of Dhamtari district were honored

 Nagam was awarded for poverty alleviation and livelihood promotion and Sankara for healthy panchayat theme.

 Chhattisgarh is one of the few states which got more than one award

National Panchayat Award

Two panchayats of Chhattisgarh have been honored with the National Panchayat Award. In a program organized in New Delhi under the chairmanship of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu, Nagam village panchayat of Lundra district panchayat of Surguja district and village Sankara of Nagri panchayat of Dhamtari district were awarded. Gram Panchayat Nagam was awarded in poverty alleviation and livelihood promotion category and Sankara in healthy panchayat theme. Along with the prize, an amount of Rs 50 lakh each was also given to these gram panchayats.
Expressing happiness for this achievement, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey have congratulated the people of the state. It is worth mentioning that 43 Gram Panchayats were given awards for their remarkable works in various fields across the country. Chhattisgarh is one of the few states which received more than one award today. Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Nagam Mr. Bhandari Ram Paikra and Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Sankara Mrs. Shashi Dhruv received the award from the hands of Union Minister Panchayat and Rural Development Mr. Giriraj Singh. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste and Union Minister of State for Panchayat Raj Shri Kapil Moreshwar Patil were also present on this occasion.
It is noteworthy that in order to eradicate poverty in Gram Panchayat Nagam, providing maximum job cards to the villagers under MNREGA, providing 100 percent remuneration, providing 100 percent benefits to the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, increasing the income of women of self-help groups. And the villagers were rewarded for their excellent work in skill development through an institution like ITI. Similarly, 100% institutional delivery of pregnant women in Gram Panchayat Sankara, providing nutritious food to children, discussion on vaccination of children in Gram Sabha, Mahila Sabha and Bal Sabha, publicity to prevent diseases like typhoid, malaria, TB etc. Awarded for spreading and doing good work through telemedicine.
This award also assumes significance because more than 2.5 lakh gram panchayats across the country had filed nominations for this award. It included 11658 gram panchayats of Chhattisgarh. Out of these 43 Gram Panchayats were selected from across the country for the award. The theme for this award was kept in 9 categories. Joint Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mr. Gaurav Singh, CEO District Panchayat Raipur Mr. Akash Chikara, CEO Surguja Mr. Vishwadeep Yadav, Deputy Director Mr. Dinesh Agarwal and other officers were present in the programme.
