Raipur : Two big health campaigns to start in Chhattisgarh from December 1

Malaria-free Chhattisgarh campaign in four districts of Bastar and intensive TB and leprosy eradication identification campaign will start in remaining districts of the state

Raipur. 30 November 2022,  Two major campaigns of the Health Department will be commenced in Chhattisgarh from 1 December. The seventh phase of malaria-free Chhattisgarh campaign will be conducted from December 1 to December 21 in four malaria-sensitive districts of the state namely, Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma. Similarly, intensive TB and leprosy search campaign will be conducted in the remaining districts of the state during the same period.

In the seventh phase of the Malaria-free Chhattisgarh campaign, from December 1, the health department’s team will check for malaria in people by reaching  door-to-door in the  remote and sensitive forest districts of Bastar division namely Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma. During this campaign, treatment of malaria will be carried out by giving medicines immediately to those found positive. This campaign is being run continuously in the state to achieve the goal of a complete malaria-free state by reducing malaria cases to the lowest level.

Along with the investigation and treatment of malaria, public awareness activities will also be conducted to prevent it. people will be encouraged to use mosquito nets daily,  DDT or burnt oil will also be sprayed in the stagnant water and drains around the houses. People will also be informed about various measures to maintain cleanliness around the house and prevent mosquitoes from growing.

Under the intensive TB and leprosy search campaign, from December 1, the health department’s team will go door-to-door to identify potential TB and leprosy patients. Under the campaign, treatment will also be made available to those found positive by examining potential patients. The Health and Family Welfare Department has given detailed guidelines by issuing a circular to the Collectors of all the districts for the effective operation of the campaign.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases,During  the first phase which will start from December 1 to December 21, all the other districts of the state except the districts of Bijapur,Dantewada,Sukma and Narayanpur will be searched for potential TB and Leprosy patients. This campaign will run from 4 January 2023 to 25 January 2023 in Narayanpur, Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada. In the second phase of the intensive TB and leprosy search campaign, from January 2, 2023 to January 17, 2023, the list of suspected TB  patients identified by all private hospitals, nursing homes, private practitioners and chemists will be taken and entered in the Leprosy portal. During this,  sample of suspected patients will also be collected for free of cost for medical examination

During the campaign, from December 1 to December 15, 2022, ‘Mitanins’ will visit door-to-door in their respective areas to identify potential patients on the basis of symptoms of TB and leprosy. During the period from December 16 to December 21, TB and leprosy suspected patients discovered by Mitanins will be re-examined by MPW (Multi-Purpose Health Worker) and ANM of the concerned area. In areas where Mitanins are not working, services of Leprosy Mitras, TB champions, TB Mitans or volunteers from nearby areas will be taken.

During door-to-door visits by Mitanins, potential patients of TB and leprosy will be advised to go to the nearest primary health center and get treated. In urban areas (mainly in non-slums) where Mitanins are not available, male or female RHOs of Urban Health and Wellness Centers (UHWCs) will identify suspected TB and leprosy patients. The health department has also asked to take the services of TB champions, TB Mitans, leprosy friends and volunteers in survey work and publicity of the campaign. During the campaign, the list of TB and leprosy suspected patients coming to all Community Health Centers and Primary Health Centers from December 1 will be maintained separately so that it can be matched with the list received by Mitanins during the campaign.
