The three-day Tribal Craft Fair organized by the Chhattisgarh Tribal Research and Training Institute and the Government of India from November 15 to 17, under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, was concluded this evening by the Chief Guest, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Dwarkadhish Yadav.
On this occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Yadav presented various types of crafts engaged in Chhattisgarh Haat. The 33 stalls set up were also visited. During the visit of the stall, he interacted with the handicraftsmen and encouraged them by purchasing the products prepared by them. He participated in Tribal Craft Mela 04 from Kondagaon district, 05 from Bastar, 02 from Gariaband, 03 from Rajnandgaon, 04 from Narayanpur, 04 from Surguja, 01 from Raigarh, 03 from Jashpur, 01-01 from Korba-Bilaspur, Balod. A total of 61 craftsmen displayed their products through 03 stalls from Raipur and 03 stalls for showcasing and selling their products.
In the closing ceremony, Director of Chhattisgarh Tribal Research and Training Institute, Mrs. Shammi Abidi said that the tribal art displayed in this tribal craft fair organized in a short time has been highly appreciated by the visitors. He said that according to an estimate, in these three days, products worth about Rs. 3 lakh were sold through various stalls. Out of the total 61 tribal craftsmen who came from different districts of the state, 36 craftsmen belong to the women category, which shows the strong participation of women in the field of crafts. Smt. Abidi said that during these three days, a study was also done on the workmanship directly from the craftsmen present by the institute, which would prove helpful in the field of research in art crafts in future. In the event, Karma based on tribal lifestyle by the artists of Chhattisgarh Lok Kala Manch, Cultural performances of Dadaria etc. were given. He said that in future, such events would continue to be organized at the government level to encourage tribal art-skills and crafts.
Expressing happiness for the successful event, the craftsmen who came in the program shared their experiences and wished for the purpose of such events in future. All the craftsmen who came by the institute were given citation cum certificates. Expressing gratitude to the Handicrafts Development Board and the entire team of the institute for the successful organization of the craft fair, Deputy Commissioner Shri Pragyan Seth announced the completion of the fair.
