Taking a major decision in the Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha on Thursday, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has announced to purchase 20 quintals of paddy per acre at the support price. With this decision, a wave of happiness has spread among the farmers of the entire state.
Thanks to the dozens of farmer-friendly decisions taken by the Chhattisgarh government in the last four years, positive changes are taking place in agriculture and farming in the state. The farmers of the state have also started moving fast towards modern farming. With the input subsidy of Rs 9,000 per acre received from the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers have become much stronger than before. Farmers’ interest in agriculture has increased. Farmers who had already given up farming are now returning to farming again.
Expressing happiness, Mr. Santosh Verma, a farmer of Munglatola village of Saja development block of Bemetara district, said that with this decision of the sensitive Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the farmers of the state will become more prosperous in the coming times. When the farmers will be happy, money will come in the market of the state and trade and business will also increase. Mr. Thansingh Lodhi, a farmer of village Lodhi Khapri, said that this historic decision will surely bring more money in the pockets of the farmers and they will become financially strong.
Mr. Ashutosh Prasad Sai, Mr. Chhatrapal Singh and Mr. Khrisht Juwel Bada, farmers of Ara Gram Panchayat of Jashpur development block, have called it a farmer-friendly decision. Farmer Mr. Ashutosh Prasad said that Chhattisgarh government is really a farmer friendly government. Farmers have been strengthened by loan waiver, purchase of paddy at support price, payment of amount in bank account under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
The farmers of Surajpur district, which is far away from the district headquarters, believe that due to continuous encouragement and advanced farming in the state, the production of paddy is increasing continuously. Earlier, a limit of 15 quintals per acre was fixed for selling paddy, so the extra crop produced had to be sold at one-fourth price. Now by increasing this limit to 20 quintals per acre, farmers will be able to sell more paddy at the support price. Farmers Mr. Hariprasad of Madaneshwarpur and Mr. Shankar Prasad of Ramanujnagar, who came to the Ramanujnagar Society in the district, said that the economic condition of the farmers will be strong and they will find it easier to discharge their social responsibilities.
The faces of the farmers of Gariaband district have blossomed after increasing the limit of paddy purchase on support price. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, the farmers have said that with this historic decision, the farmers will get an opportunity to sell paddy in large quantities. Mr. Bhavsingh Sahu, Mr. Dhaluram, Mr. Baldau Sahu, the farmers of Teka village said that they have about 6 acres of land in which they do farming. Earlier he used to sell 90 quintals of paddy but now he will be able to sell 120 quintals of paddy every year.
