On the occasion of World Tribal Day in the capital Raipur, the colorful finale of the two-day traditional game Madai took place at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, Kota Raipur today. About 700 participants from 17 districts of the state took part in this game Madai. Traditional games were performed by specially protected tribes at Khel Madai.

Participants from different districts participated with enthusiasm in other traditional games including fugdi, gedi, tug of war, matka race and other traditional games organized at Vivekananda Stadium Kota in the capital. Archery was the center of special attraction in this hut. Youth along with school children also participated in the tribal festival. This is the first time after the formation of the state under the able leadership and guidance of Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, when such a massive event of specially protected tribes’ traditional game, Madai, was organized at the state level.

Organized by the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department, this sports competition includes the traditional games played by various tribal communities like archery, slingshot, matka race, gilli danda, gedi race, bhaura, fugadi, billa ropekinch, sattul, bhara run, Bora Run, Sui Dhaaga Race, Mudi Lukavan, Three Tongri Race and Sailing etc. were organized. Traditionally played sports competitions were organized for boys and girls under the age group of 14 years to 18 years and above 18 years (female and male) under open competition. It is noteworthy that at the district level, sports competition was organized in the districts from July 22 to 28 by inviting entry from all the development blocks falling under the Tribal Agency area.

Under the program organized today, Gilli Danda boy stood first, second and third in the age group of 14 years to 18 years, respectively, Mehtar Ram from Rajnandgaon district, Dular from Korba and Mahesh Koram from Narayanpur. Whereas in open competition, first, second and third place stood Suraj Kumar from Bilaspur, Ramji Hade from Narayanpur and Pardeshi Birhor from Korba. Similarly, in the age group of 14 years to 18 years, Ishwari Kumari from district Mahasamund, Aarti from Bilaspur and Gunita from Rajnandgaon stood in the first, second and third place respectively, while in open competition, first, second and third place respectively, Premkuvar from Rajnandgaon district. , Kanti Baiga from Bilaspur and Punni Kamar from Mahasamund. Similarly, in the first, second and third place in the age group of 14 years to 18 years, Ramkumar from Kamsharu Jashpur district, Sadan Shri from Surguja and Rajkumar Birhor from Korba, whereas the participants who secured first position under open competition, Suresh from Raigad district Gariaband and Umesh from Balrampur, Mudi (Goti) Lukavan were first, second and third in the age group of 14 years to 18 years. Tania Baiga from district Bilaspur, Saraswati from Jashpur district and Deepika Nureti from Rajnandgaon respectively, while in open competition, first, second and third place respectively, Mona Birhor from Korba district, Kanti from Bilaspur and Sudhani Dugga from Narayanpur district stood respectively. In the age group of 14 years to 18 years, three Tgundi race boys stood first, second and third respectively, Augustu Ram from district Jashpur, Devnath, Samal Kumar from Surguja, Ravi Shankar and Bishnu Ramprasad from Gaurela Pendra respectively. Similarly, in three races, girls from 14 years to 18 years in the age group of first, second and third place respectively from Mahasamund to Hina, Maya, Jamuna from Raigad, Ramkumari and Ramila Dhruv from Narayanpur, Sujata continued. Whereas in the open competition, first, second and third place respectively, Nilkamal from Gariaband, Suresh, Lakshman from Narayanpur, Abhijeet and Samaru from Rajnandgaon, Ramji and Durgavati from Sarguja, Danteshwari, Kanti from Bilaspur, Sudhni from Phulkunwar and Gariaband, Deepika from Rajnandgaon and Ramji. .
