Raipur, 28 July 2021. In Chhattisgarh, along with traditional farming, people are now moving ahead in new areas of livelihood. Along with constantly encouraging innovations by the state government, efforts are being made to take its benefits to more and more people. Taking steps towards innovations, the farmers of Jashpur district have adopted pear cultivation on a large scale. The farmers of the garden-sanna area here cultivate it in large quantities. About 17 hundred farmers of the district are involved in the production of pears. Here about 700 tonnes of pears are produced in an area of 750 hectares.
Farmers earn good profits every year by producing pears as a long-term crop. Along with big cities like Delhi, Ranchi, there is a demand for pears in many states including Uttar Pradesh. To provide its benefits to women, the district administration has linked its value chain marketing to the women of self-help groups. This has not only provided a new means of employment to the women here, but they are helping in taking the taste of the pears of Jashpur far and wide. In this episode, women associated with Khudiya Rani Mahila Farmer Producer Organization, mother of Garden Tehsil, are trying to reach pears grown in large quantities in the district to other states and districts under value chain marketing. He has procured 27 quintals of pears from the farmers of Sanna and sold them in neighboring Raigad district.
The women of the group told that there is no dearth of forest wealth in Jashpur district. She is trying to increase her income from this. For this, he has started it by supplying pear fruit. He told that he has got a profit of 7 thousand 500 rupees in the first time itself. Due to which there is a lot of happiness among the women of the group. She is preparing to do this work on a large scale in future so that she can benefit immensely.
