Raipur, 03 February 2022. Member of Parliament, Shri Rahul Gandhi, during his stay in Chhattisgarh, today tasted coffee at the Bastar Coffee stall set up in the Science College, capital Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel was also with him on this occasion. Shri Rahul Gandhi praised the innovation and taste of coffee production taking place in Bastar. He also suggested to Chief Minister Mr. Baghel to sign MoU with International Coffee Brands (big companies).
It is worth mentioning that coffee is being cultivated in thousands of acres under Darbha, Kakalgur and Dilmili villages of Darbha block of Bastar. Due to this, the forest dwellers and farmers are getting profits of lakhs. In a year, about 30 to 40 thousand rupees are being earned per acre from the cultivation of coffee. In view of the adaptability of the climate in Bastar, coffee cultivation has been started in about 3 thousand acres. The echo of Bastar Coffee is now happening in foreign countries as well. At present it is being exported to 8 countries. With the action plan for the coming 60 years, farmers will get the benefit of it on a large scale.
