Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has said that the state government is making every possible effort for the progress of other backward classes along with all sections. Whether it is about the programs run for education, health, employment or justice schemes, the benefits of these schemes are being given to all classes as well as people belonging to other backward classes. The state government has decided to start hostels for the students of other backward classes in the divisional headquarters and district headquarters of the state, like the students of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The Chief Minister was addressing the state level one-day “OBC Mahasammelan” organized at Ravanabhata Maidan in capital Raipur today. In the Mahasammelan, the Other Backward Classes society demanded Chief Minister Mr. Baghel to give time to the Governor for discussion regarding reservation. The Chief Minister asked the Governor to write a letter in this regard.
The program was jointly organized by Chhattisgarh OBC Mahasabha and Chhattisgarh Backward Classes Welfare Association. The program was presided over by the State President of Chhattisgarh Backward Classes Welfare Association, Mr. Om Prakash Sahu. Lok Sabha MP Mr. Deepak Baij, Convener of Chhattisgarh OBC Mahasabha Mr. Radheshyam Sahu and many office bearers and representatives of OBC society were present in large numbers in the programme.
On the demand of land by the society, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that no government has distributed so much land in the matter of land before, no society can say that it did not get the land. OBC is a big society, so you people have got maximum land. Along with this, necessary amount has also been given for the construction of the building. All the hospitals in the capital are located in Raipur city, so keeping in view the feasibility, you should look for land for Dharamshala near big hospitals.
The Chief Minister said that our government is always with the backward classes. Most of the benefits of loan waiver have been given to the backward class comrades, because the people of the backward class are mostly associated with agriculture, you also got the maximum benefit of purchasing paddy on the support price, whether it is a matter of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. Be it millet kodo, kutki ki, tubewell farmers were given a rebate of Rs 12,000 to 14,000 crore on electricity in these 5 years and rebate is also being given on electricity in homes. Our government is constantly working on education and health. The state government is constantly striving for the interests of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said in the Mahasammelan that I also remember the day in 2013 when thousands of you all came from Charama to Raipur on foot and a big gathering was organized next to the indoor stadium. The organization of Other Backward Classes is very strong. The organization always puts forth its demands in an effective manner. The Other Backward Classes have been mainly demanding 27 percent reservation. The Chief Minister said that we called a special session in the Vidhan Sabha on December 1 and 2, 2022 and passed the Reservation Bill and after passing it, sent it to the Governor. This bill is pending with the Governor. In this bill, there is a provision of 32 percent reservation for Scheduled Tribes, 13 percent for Scheduled Castes, 27 percent for Other Backward Classes and 4 percent for EWS.
The Chief Minister said that at present the census has not been conducted since 2011. The issue of housing came up. With the increase in population, families also increased and the need for housing also increased. I wrote a letter to the Prime Minister that the census should be done. When the census was not done, our government got an economic survey done, the report of which has come and its testing is going on.
Supporting the demand of the society, the Chief Minister said that the office of NMDC should be in Jagdalpur instead of Hyderabad. If there is an office in the state, everyone will be benefited from it, the state will benefit from GST, which is going to Telangana now, the state will get it. The children of Chhattisgarh will also get benefit in recruitment. The Chief Minister said that government and public industrial bodies are being privatised, in such a situation no one will get the benefit of reservation. The Nagarnar steel plant in Bastar is not even ready yet, preparations have been made for its disinvestment. The airport is being privatised. Balco has been privatised. With regard to forest rights pattas, he said that in the previous government only tribals were given forest rights pattas. But in our government since 2005, any person, irrespective of society, if they have been in possession since 2005, they were given pattas.
State President of Chhattisgarh Backward Classes Welfare Association Shri Om Prakash Sahu and Convener of Chhattisgarh OBC Mahasabha Shri Radheshyam Sahu drew the attention of the Chief Minister towards various demands of the society in detail.
