Raipur, 22 May 2021. Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel has said that Chhattisgarh is a thriving state in terms of biodiversity. The importance of biodiversity has always been associated with the rich culture here. We all need to come forward in the important work of giving recognition not only to the state but also at the national and international level.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel was addressing a virtual program organized at his residence office in the capital on the occasion of International Biodiversity Day today. Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister  T.S. Singhdev was present.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel honored the institutions and individuals receiving state level awards in five categories of biodiversity in the program. On this occasion, the documentary film ‘Atith Parinde’ produced by the Chhattisgarh State Biodiversity Board inaugurated and also released the books Floral Diversity of Chhattisgarh, Butterfly of Bhoramdev Wild Life ‘and’ Snakes and Other Raptiles of Chhattisgarh ‘published by the Board. did. He congratulated all people on the occasion of International Biodiversity Day.

 

Addressing the program, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that awareness about biodiversity has increased a lot in the world in the last few decades. That is why the whole world celebrates May 22 to May 22 as International Biodiversity Day. In spite of the worldwide efforts towards conservation of biodiversity, the term is generally unfamiliar to the general public. This word may be new, but this idea is not new to us. This idea has been inhabited in our culture for centuries. In which lies the important message and education of the preservation and promotion of every living being.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel further said that the biodiversity of Chhattisgarh is not only the heritage of the people of this state but also of the entire humanity. In order to preserve it, a Biodiversity Board has been formed in the state. Apart from this, more than 12 thousand Biodiversity Management Committees are working in all Gram Panchayats of the state. Along with this, the work of documenting the biodiversity of the state is also being done. He said that biodiversity means conservation of animals, birds, flora etc. as well as cultural traditions. Therefore, let us all understand the importance of biodiversity and come forward to spread it to the people. Also, play an important role in giving recognition to the resources available in the state, not only at the state but also at the national and international level.

 

On this occasion, Minister of Forests and Climate Change, Mr. Mohammad Akbar said that on May 22, International Biodiversity Day is celebrated all over the world to bring awareness towards biodiversity. In Chhattisgarh state, 44 percent of the land is covered by forest wealth and this state is also full of biodiversity. He said that there is an unbreakable relationship between humans and nature and our lives depend on each other. Keeping this in mind, conservation and promotion of biodiversity is necessary. In the program, Principal Secretary Forests Mr. Manoj Pingua, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Rakesh Chaturvedi and Board Member Secretary Mr. Arun Pandey were apprised in detail about the activities and activities of the Board in relation to biodiversity in the state. It was also informed by them that currently 27 such Wetland have been selected from the state, In which migratory birds come in large numbers. Of these, 4 are in Belaudi, Chicha, Achanakmar and Sankara Durg districts, 03 in Gidhwa Parsada and Murkuta Bemetra district and 5 in Barabanda, Mandhar, Kharora, Bangoli and Kosrangi Raipur districts. In this way, the work of survey etc. is in progress to start work in 12 wetlands of these three districts in the first phase.

In the program organized today on the occasion of International Biodiversity Day, individuals and institutions in five categories of biodiversity were given state level awards. These include ‘Raipur Snake Conservation Group’ and Dhamtari Wild Life Fair Society and Nova Nature Wild Life Society under the Wildlife Conservation category. Similarly, State Police Dog Training Center 7th Corps Chhattisgarh Armed Forces, Bhilai in the conservation of domesticated species, Prabhat Dubey Ambikapur in the nutritional use of bio resources, Jungoreitar Vidya Ketul educational institution in the biodiversity conservation category from civilization, culture and heritage and Natural Environment Education Niketan Gyan Bada Damkasa and the Best Biodiversity Management Committee include Biodiversity Management Committee Gidhwa and Biodiversity Management Committee Parasada.
Additional Chief Secretary Subrata Sahu, Principal Secretary Forest  Manoj Pingua and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Rakesh Chaturvedi, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Arun Pandey were present on the occasion. In the program, MP Smt. Jyotsna Charandas Mahant and all the Chief Conservators of Forests and Forest Divisional Officers were connected through video conferencing.
