Raipur, 09 September 2021. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Government of Chhattisgarh has given a new impetus to the rural economy with the Gauthan built in the villages for the protection and promotion of livestock and the Godhan Nyay Yojana started a year ago. The figure of purchase of cow dung in Gauthans under the Godhan Nyay Yojana has so far crossed Rs 100 crore. From the procured cow dung, vermicompost and super compost are being produced in abundance in about 6000 Gauthans of the state by women’s groups. So far the value of fertilizers produced and sold at Gauthans has crossed Rs 90 crore. The enthusiastic participation of the villagers in the Godhan Nyay Yojana has not only made it popular, but the results that have come before us are very pleasant.
Godhan Nyay Yojana has become such a unique scheme in itself, which has absorbed multi-dimensional objectives in itself. In the initial phase of this scheme, there were many questions and apprehensions in the minds of the people about its success, which have been proved to be futile by the Gauthan Steering Committee and the women associated with Gauthan. With this scheme a new atmosphere of enthusiasm has been created in our villages. New employment opportunities have increased. Livestock farmers and villagers have got a source of additional income. Women self-help groups have found a new way of self-reliance.
In order to protect and promote livestock as well as to provide them a source of fodder and water, in coordination with the Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana established in the villages, in fact Gauthan is now becoming a new source of livelihood for the villagers. Income-oriented activities are being conducted successfully by the women groups in the Gauthans with the dedication and hard work. He is unique in himself. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel says that our villages have been the center of power. Rural resources have so much power to run the economy of the state and the country. If we want to increase the pace of development by staying connected with our culture, identity, self-respect and respect, then the best means for this is to develop such a development by respecting and adding value to our traditional resources, in which there is direct participation of a large number of rural people.
Godhan Nyay Yojana and our Gothan are actually the plans of the villagers and are being run by them for their betterment. Under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, the figure for the purchase of cow dung has crossed 100 crores. This is no small matter. Those who sell and buy cow dung and prepare various products from vermi compost to it belong to the village itself. It is clear from this that our villages can become the focal point of employment and production, which is the objective of Gandhiji’s Gram Swaraj. Chhattisgarh government is moving fast towards fulfilling the dream of village swaraj through Suraji Gaon Yojana – Narva, Garuwa, Ghurwa, Bari and Godhan Nyay Yojana.
Under Godhan Nyay Yojana, till now 100 crore 82 lakh dung has been procured in Gauthans. 32 crore 94 lakh has been distributed to Gauthan committees and Rs 21 crore 42 lakh has been distributed to women self-help groups. The women of the group, engaged in various activities ranging from making vermi compost in Gauthans to earning income, are working diligently and hard. His dedication and hard work has proved that, No matter how odd the circumstances are, it can be defeated with effort. Women’s groups have created a new record by preparing high quality vermicompost and super compost manure. Neighboring states have also started demanding vermi compost produced in the Gauthans of Chhattisgarh. The state of Jharkhand has received orders for supply of one and a half lakh quintals of vermi compost to Raigad district. It’s a matter of pride. Farmers from the border states adjoining the state of Chhattisgarh are also buying vermicompost by coming to the Gauthans in the border area of Chhattisgarh. Getting the Skach Gold Award for the Godhan Nyay Yojana of the Government of Chhattisgarh is a proud achievement for the state.
So far, 10 thousand 112 Gauthans have been approved in the state under Godhan Nyay Yojana, out of which 6112 Gauthans are built and operated. 44.51 percent of the beneficiaries of this scheme are women. 48.10 percent belong to the Other Backward Classes, 7.82 percent to the Scheduled Castes and 40.58 percent to the Scheduled Tribes. More than 79 thousand landless families have got access to additional income through this scheme. So far 7 lakh 80 thousand quintals of vermi compost has been produced by women groups in Gauthans, out of which 6 lakh 13 thousand quintals of compost have been sold. Out of 3 lakh 46 thousand quintal super compost manure in Gauthans, 1 lakh 60 thousand quintal manure has been sold. With the successful purchase of cow dung and conducting income-oriented activities in Gauthans, 1634 Gauthans have become self-supporting. This is a result of the significance of the Godhan Nyay Yojana and the benefits that accrue through it.
