Raipur: The Central Joint Secretary observed the work of cocoon threading being done by women in the first wet rilling unit of the state.

  Raipur, 17 February 2022.  Raghuraj Madhav Rajendran, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, inspected the state’s first wet rilling unit set up in Korba city for coco threading. The Joint Secretary visited the Kosabari Center of the Silk Department and observed the work being done by the women to extract the thread from the cocoon. He took information from the Assistant Director of the Silk Department about the Wet Rilling and Buniyaad Rilling Unit set up in the center. In the Kosabari center, about 45 women are engaged in the work of weaving thread through weight rilling and Buniyaad machine. Assistant Director Shri S. D Sharma told Joint Secretary Mr. Rajendran that about one thousand 500 meters of thread comes out in a cocoon. The yarn extracted is 100% tussar silk. The price of which ranges from four and a half thousand to five and a half thousand rupees in the market. Giving information, he said that the weavers of the district were dependent on countries like China and Japan for high quality kosa yarn. Wet Rilling Machine has been installed by the Silk Department to meet this shortfall. The work of extracting high quality cocoa thread from this machine is being done by women. Due to which women are getting good income per month. Women have also been trained to pull the thread. The Assistant Director informed Mr. Rajendran about the whole process of extracting the cocoon from the cocoon. Apart from weight rilling, women are also doing the work of removing the thread from the Buniyaad machine. He told that three hundred families of the district were sitting at home due to the threading of Kosa. Getting employment. Women have also been given a machine to remove the cocoon thread at home. Along with household work, women are doing easy threading work, due to which women are also getting economic benefits.
