A team of 32 Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers from different states visited Dhamtari Forest Division yesterday under Mid-Career Training (MCT) Phase 3 of National Forest Academy, Dehradun. During this, the officers studied the best initiatives related to forest management and livelihood promotion.
During the visit, CCF Raipur Shri Raju Agassimani and DFO Dhamtari Shri Shrikrishna Jadhav informed the officials about the soil and moisture conservation works done in Pampar Nala. He said that these efforts are playing an important role in water conservation and biodiversity conservation in the area.
Apart from this, the team also visited the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra located at Dugli, where the officials interacted with the members of the self-help group and traditional Vaidya practitioners. During this, there was an in-depth discussion on the subject of value addition of minor forest produce, preservation of traditional medicinal knowledge and livelihood generated through VDVK.
Mr. Himanshu Dongre, IFS, Ms. Shweta Kamboj, IFS Probationer, SDOs, RFOs and field staff played a vital role in making this study tour a success. The officers appreciated the effective conservation strategies and community-driven economic empowerment adopted by the Chhattisgarh Forest Department.
