Raipur, 05 July 2021. Suraji Gaon Yojana and Godhan Nyaya Yojana of Chhhattisgarh Government has brought significant positive change in rural areas, transforming the lives of people in villages. These schemes have empowered the villagers and farmers and are proving to be the lifeline of rural economy, said Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, while addressing the virtual program today at his residence, organized to transfer payment under Godhan Nyay Yojana. Chief Minister said that the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had dreamed of a strong and self-supporting villages, and his vision is now turning into reality in Chhattisgarh. Today, the villages of Chhattisgarh are developing at an accelerated pace, becoming self-reliant. Home Minister Mr.Tamradhwaj Sahu, Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Subrat Sahu and other senior officers were present in the program.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel transferred a total amount of Rs 9.83 crore today online under Godhan Nyay Yojana, out of which Rs 48 lakh was paid to cow dung vendors while Rs 9.35 crore was paid as dividend to Gauthan committees and women self-help groups. Chief Minister congratulated the farmers of the state, members of Gauthan committees and women self-help groups, and said that it is a matter of great happiness for us that the Gauthans are now becoming self-supporting. Within a year from the launch of Godhan Nyay Yojana, nearly 1160 Gauthans have already become self-supporting, i.e. these gauthans procure cow dung on their own and produce Vermi Compost and Super Compost with the help of Women Self Help Groups. Chief Minister said that Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana are directly related to agriculture. The stronger this system is, the more prosperous our agriculture and farmers will be. On this occasion, he appealed farmers of the state to take active part in Roka-Chheka campaign being conducted in the state and to use vermicompost and super compost in their farms. He also appealed farmers to plant Napier grass in the pasture to provide green fodder for the animals in the Gauthans.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey said that Godhan Nyay Yojana is an important and ambitious scheme of Chhattisgarh Government, which has been appreciated by Swachh Bharat Mission Committee and the Organic Fertilizer Committee of the Parliament. He said that so far 48.56 lakh quintals of cow dung has been procured in the state, which is expected to produce about 19 lakh quintals of vermi and super compost. Minister Mr. Choubey said that so far 7 lakh quintals of vermi and super compost have been prepared in Gauthans. Presently, packaging of vermi compost from 60 thousand filled tanks is going on. So far, vermi compost worth Rs 42.20 crore has been sold. He said that about Rs 29 crore has been paid as dividend under this scheme to Gauthan committees and women self-help groups. More than 85 thousand rural women of self-help groups associated with Gauthans have earned an income of Rs 43.49 crore so far, by manufacturing vermi compost and other products, besides conducting income-oriented activities. This is a big achievement for the state of Chhattisgarh.
At the onset of the program, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. M. Geeta gave presentation on the achievements under Godhan Nyay Yojana so far. She informed that construction of 10,080 Gauthans was approved in the State, out of which 5847 Gauthans are ready and operational. Under this scheme, a total of Rs 125 crore 97 lakh has been paid to the cow dung vendors, Gauthan committees and the women groups engaged in vermi compost manufacturing. This has directly benefitted more than one lakh 70 thousand farmers practicing animal husbandry, other backward classes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, women and landless people. She also informed about the progress of programs conducted for roka-chheka and cattle breed improvement in the state.
