Raipur, 29 September 2020. They say where there is a will Ankit Jaiswal, who hails from the development block Rajpur of Balrampur district, has become synonymous with this proverb in collaboration with the horticulture department of the state government. Along with this success of young Ankit has become a topic of discussion, he is also encouraging the residents. Ankit Jaiswal, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department under the National Horticulture Mission, has cultivated papayas in a large area apart from the cultivation of traditional crops, which is earning him a good income. Ankit’s father Shyamlal is also a successful farmer and Ankit has achieved success by walking in his footprints. Ankit’s image as an experimental and progressive farmer is encouraging farmers. Ankit told that our family profession is farming, Before cultivating papaya, we were traditionally doing agriculture. Due to lack of innovation and technical knowledge in agriculture, production was so low that it became difficult to manage the expenses of the family. Trouble was increasing as family responsibilities increased, Concern of the future discouraged me from pursuing agriculture. But when it was asked by the Horticulture Department to provide information and necessary support for the cultivation of papaya under the National Horticulture Mission, I decided to cultivate papaya. Ankit further states that the horticulture department provided papaya saplings which I planted in half an acre of land and it cost about Rs. 5000. While talking, Ankit’s face smile was telling that good yield of papaya has given him encouragement and his financial condition is improving. Ankit has saved 15 thousand so far and the cultivation of papaya has become a bargain for his benefit. Ankit said that there is immense potential in horticulture farming, Farmers should adopt cultivation of horticultural crops. While expressing respect for the agrarian-oriented spirit of the administration, Ankit said that farmers should not stray in the lack of information, but contact the department and take full advantage of government schemes.
