The 26th convocation ceremony of Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University was held at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Auditorium under the chairmanship of Governor and Chancellor Mr. Vishwabhushan Harichandan. He wished all the medal and degree awarded students a bright future and said that the students should consider the option of working on the major technical, social, economic and environmental challenges of our nation, and all the students should be ready to serve the nation.
On this occasion, Governor Mr. Harichandan said that our freedom fighters have made innumerable sacrifices in taking the country to this point. Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and many other fighters played an important role in liberating India from British rule in their own ways. Gandhiji’s attempt to liberate the country through non-violent method had surprised the whole world. Gandhi ji all sections of the society, In particular, the students were also called upon to join the freedom movement. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had appealed to all the people to join the armed struggle by giving the slogan of Delhi Chalo. We should not forget the sacrifices of those innumerable fighters. The Governor said that students play an important role in taking the country forward. The way the freedom fighters made the country independent by sacrificing themselves, in the same way called upon the students to participate in the progress and progress of the country by thinking of patriotism.
Praising the Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, the governor said that this university is growing like a banyan tree in the educational scenario of the state and region and it is the origin of many universities in Chhattisgarh. He appreciated the research being done in the university and the continuous efforts being made to provide quality education. Recently, this university has received a grant of 10 crores from the Department of Science and Technology for university research and scientific excellence through a special research grant. Keeping in mind the needs of the 21st century, new employment oriented courses have been prepared. Plans have been drawn up to forge stronger linkages between the university and industries, Which will promote activities full of corporate and social responsibility. He expressed confidence that the knowledge and values ​​that students imbibe with the degree will help guide them.
The governor said that the university is ready to implement the National Education Policy 2020. The policy is focusing on the pillars of Quality, Access and Accountability. The university should try to work for the society at large.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel while addressing the convocation said that 76 percent daughters are present in the convocation today. It is a symbol of women empowerment. Women are now becoming strong instead of weak. He said that education is the only medium through which we can develop and make our dreams come true. The youth of the state should have maximum role in the development of the country and the state, for this purpose, new colleges are being started in tribal-dominated rural areas of the state, including remote Bastar and Surguja, wherever required.
The Chief Minister said that unprecedented work has been done in the field of education in Chhattisgarh. Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University was the only university in Chhattisgarh during the time of Madhya Pradesh. It is the oldest and largest university of the state. This university has achieved many proud achievements. After the formation of Chhattisgarh, many universities were opened. Universities started in Bastar, Surguja, Bilaspur, Kendriya Vidyalaya also opened. We started Shaheed Nandkumar Patel University Raigarh and Mahatma Gandhi University of Horticulture and Forestry at Sankara in Patan development block of Durg district on the 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Indira Gandhi Agricultural University is like a heritage for us, which has contributed significantly in the field of agriculture.
The Chief Minister said that at the time of formation of Chhattisgarh, the only medical college in the state was the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College. After this, medical colleges were started in Sims, Bastar, Surguja, Rajnandgaon, Raigarh in Bilaspur. In the last four years, new medical colleges were opened in Korba, Kanker, Mahasamund, private medical college in Durg was taken over and provision has been made in this year’s budget to start four medical colleges. Chief Minister Prof. the chief speaker of the convocation ceremony. Y.S. Welcoming Rajan to Chhattisgarh, said that it is our good fortune that Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Famous space scientist Padma Shri Prof. who was the closest associate of Abdul Kalam. why. S. Rajan is with us at today’s convocation. Mr. Baghel honored Bharat Ratna former President Dr. A.P.J. Remembering Abdul Kalam, he said that he had a special attachment with Chhattisgarh.
At the 26th convocation ceremony of Pandit Ravi Shankar University, Governor Mr. Vishwabhushan Harichandan awarded the degree of D.Litt in Sanskrit subject to Mahant Mr. Ramsunder Das, Chairman of State Gauseva Aayog. In the convocation, 272 gold medals were awarded to 127 students, Ph.D. to 294 students, bachelor’s degree to 1 lakh 17 thousand 31 students and post graduate degree to 44 thousand 704 students.
