Raipur: Students and parents of Chandulal Chandrakar Smriti Medical College met the Chief Minister

Raipur, 28 July 2021. Students and their parents studying in Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College, Durg met Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel today at his residence office. The parents thanked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for the initiative taken by the state government to secure the future of the children studying in the medical college and for the decision to acquire the college. The parents said that the state government has not only taken a historic decision to secure the future of the children, but has also followed Rajdharma. The Chief Minister said that children are our future. The government will do everything possible to make their future better.

It is worth mentioning that 180 students of 2017 batch are studying in fourth year at Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College, Durg. Due to the impact of the teaching work of these children here, on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the order to re-allocate the children to other recognized medical colleges has been issued by the Medical Education Department of Chhattisgarh Government. State President of Hospital Board and State Convener of IMA Medical Student Network, Dr. Rakesh Gupta informed Chief Minister Mr. Baghel that about 300 medical students of pre-2017 batch are completing internship, Now they will sit for PG NEET exam. He said that the future of 480 students has been secured with this initiative and sensitivity of the Chhattisgarh government. Medical student Shri Akshat thanked the Chief Minister for the decision of relocation of MBBS students of the college. He urged the Chief Minister that students should also be given an opportunity to do internship in government district hospitals and community health centers of their home district, so that they would get an opportunity to learn more during the internship. Dr. Rakesh Gupta says that MCI gives permission for private medical college in any state only, When it is given in writing by the State Government that it will fully protect the interests of the children studying in this college. In many states, such steps have been taken by the state government to secure the future of the students studying after the end of recognition of private medical colleges. He also referred to the decision of the Supreme Court in the case of Uttarakhand, which said that the state government is morally responsible for securing the future of medical students.

It is also worth mentioning here that the Government of Chhattisgarh has decided to acquire Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College, Durg for the interests of the people of the state, students and for the purpose of rapid expansion of medical education in the state. Usually, it takes about 500 crore rupees and a lot of time to prepare the infrastructure of a medical college. With the acquisition by the state government of the 150-seat Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College, Durg recognized by the Medical Council of India, the people and students of the state will be able to get the benefit of another government medical college at less than half the cost. Students and parents including Dr. Basant Anchal, Dr. Praveen Chandrakar, Dr. Chattar Singh, Dr. Rupal Purohit, Mr. Vishwajit Mitra, Dr. Akshat Tiwari were present on this occasion.
