GST theft of Rs 6.75 crore caught from three iron steel businessmen

Chhattisgarh’s GST enforcement wing took major action on Thursday. Raipur’s three iron steel product manufacturers Shyam Steel Industries, Ishwar Ispat and Ishwar TMT were raided by the enforcement wing of State GST. Investigation was conducted by the promoter wing in factories located in Urla Siltara area. Preliminary investigation found that GST worth Rs 6.75 crore had been evaded by these three iron steel product manufacturers. This amount is likely to increase further in further action. These firms deposited GST of Rs 4.75 crore with the authorities on the spot. These firms were buying raw scrap to make bars and evading GST.
It is noteworthy that the enforcement wing of GST in Chhattisgarh is very active. GST evasion from scrap was being monitored by them for a long time. In which advanced IT tools are being used by the department, along with using new technologies, action is also being taken on the basis of information obtained from checking of e-way bills and information being collected from the field.
