Raipur: State Government has written a letter to Union Ministry of Rural Development for uniform payment of wages to all MNREGA workers.

Raipur, 14 May 2021. The Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the State Government has written a letter to the Union Ministry of Rural Development, urging them to take necessary action for uniform payment of wages of laborers of all sections. In a letter to the Joint Secretary of the MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) in the Ministry of Rural Development, the department has informed that under the MNREGA for payment of wages to the scheduled tribe, scheduled caste and other sections of workers in the same gram panchayat. FTO was issued. Out of these only other class is getting paid. Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste workers are not getting paid. By the financial year 2020-21, payment of wages of all categories of laborers working in MNREGA from a nodal account to NEFMS. (NEFMS).

The state government has told in a letter to the Union Ministry of Rural Development that this problem is happening due to the implementation of new rules for the payment of wages by the Government of India. A provision has been made by the Government of India to release amount class-wise (General, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) for the payment of wages from April 1, 2021. In its implementation, two separate accounts have been opened by the state government for receiving funds for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes in the month of March. 241 crore 80 lakh rupees has been received from the Government of India on 26 April 2021 for payment of laborers of general category. With this amount, the wages of the general class workers are being transferred to their accounts. Five crore 26 lakh rupees have been received on 5 May 2021 for Scheduled Caste workers and 122 crore nine lakh rupees on 11 May 2021 for Scheduled Tribe workers.

Officials of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department said that there has been a discussion with the Under Secretary of the Union Ministry of Rural Development regarding non-payment of the amount received under the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes category. He was told that due to class-wise changes in the process of payment of wages, the DDO designated for the states at the Ministry of Rural Development level. Too many FTOs in one day But digital signatures have to be done and currently due to lock-down they have to do this work from home with limited resources, so it is taking longer.

Officials said that after discussing with the Assistant General Manager (Government Business) of the State Bank of India, the Nodal Bank of MNREGA in the state, they were told that the newly opened accounts of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes items have been cleared by PFMS. Mapping is underway. Therefore, even after receiving the amount in this item, it is not able to be credited. The bank has stated that the work of mapping will be completed by 14 May.
