In-depth discussion on three important irrigation projects in CIDC board meeting
Raipur, 25 March 2021. A board meeting of CIDC was held at Shivnath Bhawan in Nava Raipur today under the chairmanship of Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Ravindra Choubey. The meeting discussed in detail the survey of Rehir Atem Link Project including administrative approval for construction of Ahiran-Kharang Link Project and Chapratola Feeder Reservoir. Minister Ravindra Choubey instructed the Managing Director of CIDC to expedite the Ahiran-Kharang Link Project and Chapratola Feeder Reservoir work, including administrative approval, to complete the process at the earliest. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Subrata Sahu, Principal Secretary Forest Mr. Manoj Pingua, Commissioner of Agricultural Production Dr. M. Geeta, Secretary Revenue Department Ms. Rita Shandilya, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Mr. Ankit Anand, Managing Director of CIDC Mr. Anil Other officials, including Rai, were present.
Minister Ravindra Choubey said that it is proposed to supply water from the Ahiran-Kharung Link Project to the Kherang reservoir and supply water to Bilaspur city and Ratanpur town. Keeping this in mind, necessary infrastructure and over head tanks are being constructed for the transportation, treatment and distribution of water under the Water Life Mission. On this occasion, he also inquired about the status of Rehar Atem Link Project from the officials of CIDC and Water Resources Department. It was informed at the meeting that survey work of Rehar Atem Project will start soon. The representative of the Finance Department present in the meeting was instructed to send the Ahirn-Kharung and Chhapratola reservoir for immediate approval after examining the proposal as soon as possible.
It is noteworthy that the construction work of the above mentioned three important irrigation projects will be done by CIDC. Completion of these three projects will cost about Rs 2000 crores. It was informed at the meeting that the Ahiran Kharung Link Project is a drinking water-based project, which costs Rs 720.52 crore. Under this project, a dam will be constructed on the Ahiran river near village Podi Gosai of Katghora development block in Korba district and will bring the stored water to Kharang reservoir through pipelines. 31 million cubic meters from Municipal Corporation Bilaspur and 1 city of Ratanpur from Kharang reservoir. 11 cubic meters of water will be supplied for drinking water. Similarly, Rehar river of Sarguja district has to be connected with Hasdev river through Rehar-Atem link project. Rehar barrage is under construction near Dedri village of Surajpur district. From where it is proposed to connect to the river Jink except through the water channel in the Bichhali Nala near village Parasapali. Construction of Chhapratola feeder reservoir is proposed near Chhaprapara village of Kota tehsil on Arpa river. Its cost is about 968 crores. The purpose of construction of Chhapratola feeder reservoir is to increase the means of livelihood of the villagers by conserving the river Arpa, promoting ground water in 22 villages and maintaining the environmental balance.
