More than 26 lakh farmers will get input assistance of Rs 6,800 crore

Concrete steps have been taken by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel in the budget of the state government to strengthen the state’s largest population of farmers and agriculture and other sectors related to them. Special initiative has been taken to control the quality of fertilizers and seeds. Initiative has also been taken to make the farmers familiar with the innovations being done in the field of agriculture in the country and the world. Along with this, special efforts have been made to encourage self-supporting Gothans in the state and for the protection of livestock.
The Chief Minister presented the budget of 1 lakh 21 thousand 500 crores of the state government. In this, special importance has been given to the agriculture sector. From the point of view of the budget amount, Agriculture Department has been given the third important place after School Education and Panchayat Rural Department. There is a provision of Rs 10 thousand 70 crore for the Agriculture Department alone.
In the budget of the year 2023-24, a budget provision of Rs 23 thousand 215 crore has been made for agriculture and allied sectors. This is 19.11 percent of the total budget. In this, there is a provision of 6 thousand 800 crores to provide exchange assistance to the farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana in the agriculture sector continuously in the last four years, which will directly benefit 26 lakh 41 thousand farmers.
In order to produce quality crop products in the state, it is necessary that the quality of seeds and fertilizers should also be controlled, for this a new laboratory is being set up in Raipur for seed law enforcement. Apart from this, new fertilizer quality control laboratories are being established in Rajnandgaon and Raigarh districts. Along with this, the fertilizer laboratory of Raipur is being equipped with additional setup. With this, we will be able to work more strongly in controlling the quality of fertilizers.
In the budget, a provision of Rs 60 crore has been made to provide incentive amount to sugarcane producing farmers to promote sugarcane production in the state. On the other hand, Kisan Suvidha Kendra will be set up at Aliwara village of Rajnandgaon district and Kevra village of Surguja district, through which farmers will get necessary facility advice.
Among the Gothans of the state, 50 percent of the Gothans have become self-supporting. It has been announced to give Rs 750 to the chairman of these Gothan committee and Rs 500 to the member. This will inspire other Gauthans to be self-reliant. A provision of Rs 175 crore has been made for Godhan Nyay Yojana. Due to which the important scheme of the state government will gain momentum.
For the treatment and care of livestock, a State Animal Home and Animal Hospital is being set up in Datrenga village of capital Raipur, for which more than two crore rupees have been given for its setup and infrastructure. 17 new animal disease research laboratories are being established in new districts for research on animal diseases.
Center of Excellence will be established in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for horticulture farmers to become familiar with new techniques. For which a provision of more than two crores is being made. For our farmers to be hi-tech, a hi-tech nursery will be set up in Gandai. Chhuikhadan has traditionally been known for betel crops. To encourage it and for its revival, betel research has been established and a budget of Rs 2 crore has been given for it.
Our state is being recognized as a new identity in the country in the field of fisheries. To advance this recognition, 03 new fish farms and hatcheries are being established in Kikirmeta village of Durg district, Dubbatota village of Sukma district and Balod.
For irrigation schemes, provision has been made for 218 major irrigation schemes, 75 medium irrigation schemes, 840 minor irrigation schemes, 598 anicut-stop dams and 256 new works related to flood control in the budget for the year 2023-24.
